i havent heard....

I am still waiting on word about the only 2 DOD places in Ohio, but their does not seem to be anything.

Certainly with all the DFAS stuff closing in SC and Cali, it might all be moving to the big DFAS center in Columbus.....good news for my dad...

as for me, I am thinking there isnt going to be a closure of Wright pat. They would have announced it I think....

If they're really closing Ellsworth, I have to question their wisdom. It is hard to imagine a better site for an air base.

I was stationed at Pease AFB back in the early 80s. I returned 10 years later to a ghost town. I was saddened to see it all chained up and the rest of the area as nothing more than a tourist trap. I hate to see the fine state of NH swing left but I guess it was inevitable seeing how many people were flocking up from Mass.

Per Florida Today (can't post link due to excerpt list) reporting Patrick AFB (FL) is safe but will lose 136 military and 59 civilian service jobs.

Groton, CT is where General Dynamics builds subs.
Portsmouth Naval Shipyard is a refueling and refitting yard, I think. It is in New Hampshire.

Senators and state officials are releasing this information that they were given at 9:15 a.m. EDT -- these are official. In fact Senator Inhofe made sure in his telephone press conference that the State of Oklahoma knew they were official. Congress/state governors received the information at 9:15 a.m. and the embargo was then off for the list and why you are seeing us post our State information.

I wonder why they are closing so many? Are they trying to streamline everything?

Oh thank goodness, PKM!! That's great news!

I guess that my friends in the ARNG up on the Mingo Expressway are OK! (They're the Black Hawk unit that circles my house now and then.)
