Well said... ;-)
From my link in #66:
MORE COMING, REFRESH THIS PAGE

List still leaking out. No word yet.
My son was stationed at Ellsworth on his previous assignment. I just tryed to call him to see what news he's gotten from the inside. With the B1's gone from Mountain Home that would put all the B1's at Dyess I think, his next projected assignment.
Rumsfeld also recommended closing the Naval Station in Pascagoula, Miss., which barely survived previous base closure rounds. The decision was a blow to Sen. Trent Lott (news, bio, voting record), R-Miss., who had fought the 1995 round of closures. At stake are 844 military jobs and 112 civilian jobs.
Any base closure is a "severe blow" to the local and state economy. Many bases are considered the state's largest employer.
Hey, marmar...
WTKR is reporting that Ft. Monroe is on the list.
I don't understand it either. Even as we are are increasing our military commitments throughout the world. This worries me.
Thanks, that makes sence. I wonder if they will station more planes there?
And we're even a "RED" state. Booted Daschle and all that.
The few around here who supported his re-election said we would lose Ellsworth if we lost Daschle.
Here is the complete list:

no problem...
it seems that Luke survived....
also look at the cost of land around some of these bases....where it is lower, expect gains....where it is higher, expect losses....
That list last night was probably the one that has been floating around forever with names of bases -- got in my email a dozen or more times yesterday. The official list with names only went to Congress/States at 9:15 a.m. EDT and any release before that of all the bases would have someone in such hot water they wouldn't know which was was up.
I have to sign off for a few hours, I won't be able to post a thread with any details of this news until later today.
If anyone else posts a thread about the proposed Groton sub base closing, please ping me. Thanks.
Please Freepmail me if you want on or off my infrequent Connecticut ping list.
Only for ballistic missile subs. The attack subs are split between Norfolk and Groton.
