What does it mean when a base is being "realigned"? That's my question too.
IN WA state, it seems all the major bases are gaining... 'xcept Fairchild AFB and McChord AFB, which say "realign".

DFAS on BRAC list
Updated: 5/13/2005 9:37 AM
By: News 10 Now Staff
"The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) in Rome is among the military facilities targeted for closure by the Pentagon.
Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has recommended closing more than 150 large and small military installations across the US.
Fort Drum and Hancock Air Field are not on the BRAC list."

People that complain about noise from military planes should move -- the military has been around a long time and people know when they buy if a runway is nearby. I wholeheartedly agree. One of the few things I miss about having moved out of Dover is the sound of the C-5s overhead - we lived in one of the flight paths for years.
But I do get to hear the jets from Wallops now.......not quite the same, but still the sound of FREEDOM.

Good morning.
It looks like the Naval and Marine presence in Southern California is being built up. I wonder what that means.

You know.... human nature.......they like to b!tch alot about noise, when they move to areas that have F16 flying over head. They tend to forget that freedom isn't free.

it's gonna destroy a lot more than groton. the only thing left in eastern ct is the casinos - low paying jobs to say the least.
how long can EB stay afloat without that synergistic relationship with the navy right next door? Five years? ten at the outside?
this started when they closed united nuclear.
(sigh!) and it started off as such a good day....
