DC Scare Spurs Daley

Wants GA Aircraft Banned Over Cities, Says Incident Justifies Closure Of Meigs Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, the man General Aviation loves to hate, renewed his call for a ban on GA flight over major cities in the wake of Wednesday's light plane incursion deep into the Washington ADIZ.

Daley also said the Washington incident proves he was right to destroy Meigs Field under the cover of darkness two years ago.

"They should value the lives of people in large cities," he said during a City Hall news conference, quoted by the Chicago Tribune. "We need the same protection as Washington, DC."

Daley told reporters, "The thing about this was a single-engine plane. And remember when I talked about, after 9/11, single-engine planes can fly any part of the country except Disneyland in California, Disneyland (Disney World) in Florida, the White House, the US Capitol and New York."

"We don't have enough time," he said, referring to the amount of time between the detection of a possible airborne threat over Chicago and the time a military of DHS response might be mounted. "We don't have any jets here. I mean, the city doesn't have a military force."

General aviation aircraft should be forced to circumnavigate the Windy City, he said, flying around the town and over Lake Michigan rather than over the Loop, he said.

"That's why closing [Meigs Field] was the best thing we did. I value the lives of people in Washington, New York, and of course Disneyland. They should value the lives of people in large cities such as ours... and we need the same protection as Washington, DC," he said hours after the Washington ADIZ incursion.

For those pilots who stray, Daley said he wanted to see federal authorities institute big fines. "I think it should be a mandatory fine; $100, $200, $500,000. I mean, they have all the equipment necessary on these planes."

Richard Daley wants a complete ban on guns. Richard Daley wants a complete ban on General Aviation. He's scared of the things a free people can do with access to inanimate objects.

Richard Daley would be much more comfortable going back to bed and staying there.

Yeah, he's a D, but I distinctly notice that it's the Rs that agree with the idea and implement it.

The protected class is afraid for their safety. How does he feel about border control and illegal immigration?

That wasn't safety. That was a land-grab, pure and simple. Daley is just trying to justify his naked stealing of Meigs.

This is what you get when the people elect a king instead of a servant.

That is the most digusterating thing -- all the Beltway and Elite (Barone's Soft America) shreiking about a the gravest "danger" of a smaller-than-VW-Bug airplane and threatening -- like Daley -- civil aviation, while encouraging a disrepect for laws that will last for generations by not enforcing the border, and not bringing illegal visitors to quick and sure account.

Little Richie Daley would have to study to give a box of rocks a run for its money in an I.Q. contest. It's not that he isn't the sharpest tool in the drawer; he can't even find the damn drawer. There is no corroborative evidence that he is able to feed or dress himself. He is a vapid, craven, clutching, grabbing, empty suit, a blight upon humanity, the very fetid head on a pimple bursting from the posterior that is the Democrat party.

Despite all of this, he is the only mayor that vast numbers of Chicagoans can remember. May God have mercy on our souls.

Well, let me tell you a little about 'Da Mare' on that.

I think you can see he's not "for" any type of border or immigration control.

Typical Dem ploy -- create a "problem" and then find a way to "cure the problem" via taxation, in one form or another.

Before 9/11, someone had been flying advertising banners over Disney's properties and Disney didn't like that, so they spread some of Mickey's cheese around Washington and claimed the flight bans were to prevent terrorism.

A real terrorist flying a plane at 180 mph could cross 3 miles in a minute. Unless Disney has some F-16s flying combat air patrol or a few antiaircraft batteries, a few mile flight ban cannot prevent a terrorist from flying into Disneyland/world.

Exactly, If that plane wanted to hit the White house, it could have been their way before the F-16s were scrambled. Daley thinks a 1500 lb airplane is a threat? what about one of these?

"Daley is just trying to justify his naked stealing of Meigs."

Does anyone know the status of the charges filed against him by the FAA for illegally shutting down an Airport without notifying the aviation authorities?

A liberal pilot friend of mine (yes, we are friends - he is an honest liberal) was extremely outraged by Daley's land grab, and was very surprised to recall that this was the same Richard Daley who kept algore's post-election campaign going.

Daley is evil.
