BTW, did you hear about the guy who almost became pope.
Seems he was flyer in WWII. He was shot down and lost his arm. Became interested while in the prisoner of war camp in becoming a priest. After WWII, he joined the priest hood. Served in Africa where he flew his own plane regularly to remote locations to celebrate the Mass. He lost an eye when his plane crashed. Once, he even ventured into a mine to help minister last rites to the miners trapped below. He became trapped by a cave in. He was rescued after three days but by then the high silver concentrations in the mine had turned his skin blue.
This man was only third in the balleting. Too bad the cardinals didn't think the church was ready for a 'one-eyed, one-armed, flying purple papal leader.'
Isn't that Donald Sutherland in the remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers?
