(CNSNews.com) - A group of homosexual activists plan to protest Mass at Catholic churches nationwide Sunday in opposition to the church's stance on homosexuality.
The group, Rainbow Sash, explained on its website that they "stand opposed to homophobia at the Eucharistic table" and "make no apologies for God's gift of our sexuality." The group encourages its members to wear the Rainbow Sash in a parish or cathedral as "an act of faith in the Lord, who works through weakness."
"This year, Rainbow Sash has upped the ante," Catholic League President William Donohue said in a statement. He pointed to a May 2 press release in which the group said that the purpose of the protest is to 'counter the lies that Pope Benedict XVI is promoting about our community' and called the new pope an 'aggressive homophobe.'
"By calling the pope a liar and a homophobe, Rainbow Sash has finally taken off its mask. We look for them to get what they want-to be denied Communion. We also hope the cops are standing by. To exploit the Mass for political purposes is obscene, but it is what we have come to expect from the likes of Rainbow Sash," said Donohue.
Cardinal McCarrick of Washington, D.C. and Cardinal George of Chicago banned Rainbow Sash members from receiving the Eucharist last year, according to Donohue. Cardinal Mahony of Los Angeles, Archbishop Flynn of St. Paul and Minneapolis and Bishop Clark of Rochester, New York did not ban them, Donohue noted.
But this year Archbishop Flynn has told Rainbow Sash that they will be banned, said Donohue. "He explicitly said that 'the Vatican has communicated to me that it does indeed consider the wearing of the Rainbow Sash during reception of Communion to be unacceptable, a directive I believe all Bishops will adhere to,'" added Donohue.

First I laughed at the many possible sashes.
Then I thought seriously about . It is another to be openly unrepentent and to insist that the church happily support your sinning.
What makes the Rainbow sashers so insidious is that they are not only unrepentant, they are also unwilling to consider that their behavior is sinful. Instead, they are intent on redefining their conduct as the new normal.

These pathetic demonstrations like sashes and hunger strikes and other Gandhi-isms only work with civilized people, or at least are respected. Try this BS with the muslims in Saudi Arabia or elsewhere and see what happens.

These activists do not believe in freedom of religion and tolerance. Like most liberals, they want to impose their religious and moral views on others.

The group, Rainbow Sash, explained on its website that they "stand opposed to homophobia at the Eucharistic table" and "make no apologies for God's gift of our sexuality." GOD'S GIFT?
Try reading GOD'S WORD.
He calls homosexuality and abomination which is worthy of the death penalty in the OT.
It amazes me how self centered these people are. As if God's Word is supposed to conform to their personal preferences, however warped they are.

I am so tired of this kind of nonsense.
So am I but we have to remain vigilant. Homosexuals won't give up until they are finally ostracized to an island in the south Pacific (with no churches).

That is a brilliant idea, now the priests will know who to deny communion to.

If you don't like the teachings of the church, take it up with the Lord, and PRAY PRAY PRAY that you are right, because the Lord will spit you out if you are wrong. They don't think they are right. This is an oppritunity to shove their agenda down our throats. It has nothing to do with Christianity.

>>At such moments, it's small comfort to understand that homosare biologically self-negating...
The queer couple who used to live 3 doors down had two girls via a lesbian couple that lived a couple miles away, and had some weird shared custody arrangement. I wish I were kidding about this.
They moved out, and a nice normal couple with 3-4 kids moved in. Whew.

The Vatican had to "tell him" the Rainbow Sash protest was conduct unbecoming a Christian? Hoo boy.
