I just watched Ohio Senator Voinovich speak on the John Bolton nomination as US ambassador to the United Nations. I have never been so outraged by the actions of a fellow Republican in my life. After spending a good deal of time sliming Mr. Bolton, Voinovich had the nerve to say that he likes John Bolton, but that he wants the Committee to send Mr. Bolton to the Senate without a recommendation.
This does not kill the nomination, but is an outrage that a few short months after we Republicans spent our money and effort to re-elect Senator Voinovich he should stab us in the back by joining the absurd and hate-filled Democratic effort to defeat John Bolton as US ambassador to the United Nations. There is still a lot of hope that we can get Mr. Bolton through the Committee and the full Senate; one has to believe that a majority of Senators are smart enough to see through this sick political grandstanding...but I've a long memory, and I shan't forget. In 2010, I'll remember who stood where in the past.
Voinofavitch is a but monkey.
I can't argue with that!
What was his reasoning?
George V. : Tower of Jello, just like John F. Kerry.
Voinovich = Pansy
george allen said this morning that there would be some maneuvering but at the end of the day all would turn out right on the bolton nomination at this point i'm not worried
a senatorial girly-man
he's doing a lieberman. garnering good press for sayint what they want to hear, but he's going with his party despite his words.
Tell me why it is... that politicians can't stand anyone with a back bone?
I just sent him an email indicating that I would support his opposition both in the primary and in the general election (if he survives the primary) in 2010. Calendar already marked for late 2008.
'Craps have it easy. Just hang tough, and peel off a RINO or two here and there, and nothing will happen.
Voinovich acting like an arrogant bully.
He's practicing for the GOP's minority status which is sure to come.
Just how loud do you think the left-wing "anti-theocracy" nuts will complain? If anyone wants to start a pool, I've got dibs on the zero square.
The dems and rinos have been beating Bolton to death for,how many weeks now? They've come up with absolutely nothing, and yet this 3 ring circus(farce)continues. Why are the dems so insistant on blocking this appointment? What is the problem with Bolton, other than the fact that he's been outspoken about what he thinks about the UN?
It's far too early to say that Voinovitch is saying the wrong thing but doing the right thing, so we should give him a pass.
First of all, he is strengthening the Democrat propaganda machine and giving them bipartisan cover. Second, he is putting more pressure on his fellow RINOs to vote against Bolton. Third, he may still vote against Bolton on the floor of the Senate. It's not yet certain whether Bolton has enough votes for confirmation after all these dirty lies, and Voinovitch is still being extremely unhelpful.
As it was, I was awakened by a phone call and after answering it, clicked on the TV which happened to be on Fox News...I wasn't, at first, paying attention but the ears perked up as Voinovich droned on about what a bad, bad man that mean, ol' Bolton is...but got exceptionally outraged when after 15 minutes of sliming, Voinovich tried to mollify GOPers like me by saying he thought Bolton an honorable man who has given good service to the United States...hey, Voinovich, if he's a good man who's given good service, then you've got no beef and should vote to approve...its not your call, you piss-ant, to determine whom the President selects for Administration jobs...
Are there any negative reciprocals left available? I'd like to stake a claim on -1,000,006, if so. :)
i heard a bit of his talk about how we need to use "diplomacy" at UN...what a laugh. Does he think diplomacy would have stopped the terrorists from slamming our planes into our buildings??
I just called his Ohio office...suggested he teach his Washington DC staff about "diplomacy". When I called that office last week re the filibuster issue, the woman essentially hung up on me the first time I called and the second time put me on hold indefinitely....and, I DID NOT START OFF BEING AN ANGRY CALLER! But, I sure became one on my third call to her.
I sure hope everyone remembers these RINO's next time they run for reelection as "Republicans". They are truly disgraceful.
