How in blazes can the Senate affirm or deny consent if the majority of Senators are not allowed a voice on the nomination?

Very well stated.

Damn. The day is exploding! Frist is in battle with Reid. CBS just dilberately lied to the American people by splicing Starr's interview and the McRino's are keeping everyone on edge in the committee!

Dems (Byrd) keep using with wiggle room that 'nominees held in committee' yada yada yada.

Pubbies (Frist) keep letting them slip by. Pubbies won't call them on it.

These nominees HAVE BEEN VOTED OUT OF COMMITTEE. That they are being filibustered at the floor is NEW. But the Pubbies don't call them on that.

>>First, your county map does not support your position with regard to Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain is in DeKalb Country. No county in the State of Georgia was more blue in the 2004 election. And, as I said, Stone Mountain itself was more than 75% Kerry - that's from the Secretary of State precinct returns.

Hall county did go GOP. Gainesville was the least red area in the country. And getting more blue with every baby born there.<<

Then I am wrong and stand corrected about Stone Mountain. Come to think of it, didn't they just elect a black mayor? In Atlanta that generally equates with Democrat. Thanks for the info.

BTW , do you have a better map for election results in Georgia? That one is kind of fuzzy by the time you blow it up.

I confess I considered voting for Carter before pulling the lever for Ford.

I voted for Pat Buchanan in 2000.

Of course, I meant to vote for Al Gore. Darned butterfly ballots!!

Am I missing somethign? Haven't these people been voted OUT Of committee and isn't that what Byrd says that they need to have to get to the floor?

Byrd just mentioned that they are heading for a 'showdown'.

Frist interrupts and says they are not heading for a 'showdown

No. Sen. Frist just clarified that HE did not say they were headed for a showdown. (actually more encouraging, Reid had said they are headed for a showdown.

And Frist just ripped Bird again.

Rush says that Ken Starr was misquoted on the Nuke option. He apparently was talking about something else.

Says it was purposely misrepresented. When Starr said "it was a radical departure from our history" he wasn't talking about the nuke option he was railing against the practice of invoking judicial philosophy as a basis of acceptance of nominees.

Rush says this is a gross attack against Starr, CBS purposely took his comment out of context. Rush says he should have realized that CBS would do this and in the future won't make that mistake again.
