After urging the spread of democracy in Latvia, The Netherlands, Russia and Georgia, President (and Laura) Bush returned to the White House. The president will resume work with Congress on Social Security and judicial nominees, as well as seeking help from China on getting North Korea back to negotiations on its nuclear weapons program.

The Yahoo caption for this photo reads: "President Bush bends over to greet his dog Barney as the black Scottish terrier slips through his legs at the White House, in Washington, Tuesday, May 10, 2005. President Bush and first lady Laura Bush are just returning from a five-day trip in Europe to mark the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II."
However, Yahoo frequently screws up facts in its captions. Unless it's a trick of the light, the dog looks like a brindle. That would be the puppy, because Barney is solid black.
Also, if you compare the dogs' sizes in this photo taken just a couple of weeks ago, you can see that Barney is quite a bit bigger, even lying down. And Beezie already had a habit of going through GWB's legs.

I can never quite feel comfortable when I see pictures of tight, knee-length military boots and goose-stepping though. Ratchet that, for sure.
I've been watching "The Last Days of WW 2" on the History Channel, which, of course, includes tons of goose-stepping Nazis and Soviets. It seems very arrogant and overdone to me, giving me somewhat the same feeling I had when video of Saddam was shown shooting off his rifle in the air, as he grinned at the crowd sadistically, from a balcony. I hate it.

Great Dose tonight! In light of our first family being home safe and sound, I lift my glass (of wine, soda, milk, etc.) in a toast of relief. I bow my head in prayer and thanks.
Woo-hoo, Beezie! Does W have little treats in his pocket to "lure" her away from Laure? LOL

Will President Bush be at the White House tomorrow? Our daughter is going there with a large delegation from AL with the Chamber of Commerce. When I talked with her today, she did not think he would be there. Just curious.

Computer is suffering from indigestion - burping (double posts).....and I had the IBIS tool bar, and now about once a day have to shut the thing down, disconnect the cable line, and then restart, so I can get on the internet....I purchased a really good spam fighter, and even that's having problems (xsoft?).....anyway....it's OK, just a little sick. Glad yours is all better now.
