Probe finds evidence of election fraud (Milwaukee)

Probe finds evidence of election fraud

Investigators today said they had found evidence of fraud in the Nov. 2 election in the City of Milwaukee, including cases of felons voting illegally and people who voted twice.

They found more than 100 instances of suspected double-voting and more than 200 felons who voted improperly in the city.

They also found that at least six deputy registrars falsified 65 names in last year's voter registration drives, for which they were paid by the signature solicited. Authorities said there was no evidence those false names were used to cast ballots.

Widespread record-keeping failures will make it difficult to identify fraud and prosecute criminal cases, U.S. Attorney Steve Biskupic and Milwaukee County District Attorney E. Michael McCann said in a statement issued minutes before a 1 p.m. press conference.

The two are leading the federal-local investigation that was launched in the wake of Journal Sentinel reports about election irregularities.

No charges were announced today, but officials said that the investigation is continuing.

In its investigation, the Journal Sentinel has also found a 7,000-vote gap, with more ballots counted in the city than people recorded as voting. While city election officials blamed post-election date entry for the flaws, the newspaper found gaps existed at dozens of wards, with more votes counted than people tallied in log books. Another 1,300 same-day registration cards were processed even though they were incomplete, with many missing addresses and even names.

In addition, the newspaper identified 278 felons who illegally voted statewide, with the majority coming from within the city. In Wisconsin, felons can only vote if they are off probation and parole.

The actual number of illegal felon voters is likely far greater, since the newspaper could only analyze about 40% of those who voted statewide, because a change in state law bars access to voter birth dates.

The newspaper also identified numerous cases where the same person appears to have voted twice, though that analysis was hampered by major computer problems at the city that led to 300 or more cases where people are incorrectly listed as voting twice.

The newspaper's findings have also prompted a statewide audit of voting procedures. Republicans have cited the newspaper's reports in calling for reforms, including a photo ID requirement for voters. The photo ID measure passed the Legislature, but was vetoed by Gov. Jim Doyle.

Doyle, a Democrat, has issued his own package of election reforms, many of which target problems highlighted by the newspaper. Those have not been acted on by the Legislature, which has a task force looking into various reforms.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett has appointed his own task force to review procedures. That group is expected to issue its report soon.

This story will be updated online during the day and a complete version will appear in the Journal Sentinel Wednesday morning.

"If the msm ever completely turns on the rats and starts to regularly talk about voter fraud, the evil donkey party will go the way of the Whigs."

If the MSM decided to tell the truth, there wouldn't be a need to falsify circulation numbers or forge documents to take down a sitting President.

If the NY Slimes printed one article, (Kerry fails to sign 180) I would have bought the paper. If the Swifties were on page one I would have bought the paper.

If Dan Rather did a 60 minutes piece with Jerry Corsi I would have watched it.

They don't get it. If they want to put Fox out of business, just tell the truth. There is more of a story there then to lie or not print it at all.

What was the split (vote difference) that caused these illegal votes to be probed?

Just over 11,000 votes, and the election-day slashing of tires on 20 vans rented by the GOP by Democratic operatives, including the adult child of the Democratic candidate for the US House-4th District and the adult child of the former mayor of Milwaukee.

Washburn's World should prove a very interesting read. The blogger has a very interesting tale of fraud and incompetence in not only the November election, but both elections since (the spring primary and general elections).

Those outstate papers seem to take their lead from the Madistan papers (which, despite O. Ricardo Pimentel's best/worst efforts, are even more liberal than the JS). Still, it's worth a shot.

Unless they don't clean up the fraud by then.

Until they start throwing people in jail for this stuff the fraud will continue. A good start would be violating the parole or probation for the 278 felons and send them back to jail.

There should be penalties for sloppy record keeping as well. Until there are such penalties the rats can continue to use bad record keeping to hide the fraud.

But that 11,000 was for the whole state, right?

Almost seems here that "they" are investigating the city election - rather than the national results that came from the city election affecting the state total.

Too bad our Governor just vetoed the bill that would have required ID at the polls. The Republicans in the legislature need to reintroduce the measure and keep hammering away at the corruption in this state.

Yep. Also, take away the city of Milwaukee, and Ketchup Boy wouldn't have picked up Wisconsin's 10 electoral votes.

Almost seems here that "they" are investigating the city election - rather than the national results that came from the city election affecting the state total.

You got it right. Not only was the election run so sloppily in Milwaukee that fraud was encouraged, but that fraud happened at an unbelievable scale.

steveegg and anyone else reading this thread - here's a listing of WI papers. (http://www.usnpl.com/winews.html) Start with the cities of Eau Claire, Wausau, Green Bay and Appleton. Write and request that they tell the story of voter fraud in Milwaukee. The moderate voters upstate may be swayed by this and vote our governor out next election. If we can get a Republican in, we can get voter registration legislation passed and get rid of this kind of fraud in the next presidential election.

This is not a Wisconsin matter. It matters to the entire country!

In Minnesota, bloggers throughout the state set up a Northern alliance to carry such news and in South Dakota, Daschle v. Thune kept Daschle from stealing again. Get people in each part of the state to start blogging and force the local news into action.

I can't find a thread here on that, but it's been pretty much shot full of holes by the Wisconsin blogosphere (example of shoot-down at Boots and Sabers).

In South Florida, Republicans organized 600 poll watchers. That worked. Republicans need to organize in the cities and not rely solely on suburban and rujral vote.

Of the 100 double votes and 278 felons, how many do we think went republican? Something tells me it is a very, very small number.

I would guess next to none because if there were any, our press here would report it nonstop.

Cookie, you and the other racist, sexist, homophobic members of the VRWC have to simply stop this nonsense about limiting women and minority group members to one vote each. And what's with this Nazi-Like insistence on "Registration?" Hey lissen, I forget to register, I moved, I am entitled to a provisional ballot or two. You owe me. Your pettifogging rules are meant to also suppress the votes of the departed. In my book, that's a grave violation of rights.

And as far as citizenship goes, can't we all just get along? A "visiting" citizen of Mexico has hemispheric rights that transcend your narrow-minded border thing. When members of minority groups and women, and aliens catch up with all the votes they were hoodwinked out of by the all-powerful white European males for thousands of years, then we'll talk one vote per person, OK?

Sure there are many phantom, felon voters in Milwaukee. We need them. It keeps things even and in the Democrat camp. You wouldn't want some right-wing nut jobs from like you know, FreeRepublic like taking over just because they might be in a majority, would you?

What you snidely call "Fraud" kept my state from a vicious Republican coup in the legislature .... thank God! I mean what would you do if some small town showed a Republican majority when the votes were recounted? Naturally, those folks were probably deranged from some stuff evil anti-environmental Republican business people allowed to seep into the water from their dark satanic mills. For the good of all, they were disallowed.
Get with the program Cookie. You are politically INCORRECT!

Was once a poll watcher in Philadelphia. Trust me, VietNam was less dangerous! Yo, those people take their fraud very seriously.

Voter fraud in the peoples' republic of Wisconsin .......and in Milwaukee of ALL PLACES........we find this very hard to believe.
After all if all the felons voted in Milwaukee, it would be a landslide.
