I'm awfully sorry to hear this- we have traded good-natured jokes and jibes for a long time, and I had wondered why he went silent. He was one of our good guys. I've been very worried about Prime Choice (Jay) too. He's been fighting cancer, and he hasn't posted since Feb. The last time I heard from him he was having problems with his eyes. I pray that he will be able to beat it. I sure do miss his pings on the hilarious graphics he makes.

I am so glad to see that when he stands before God he will be able to say that he defended life, the life that God created.
God Bless his family.

It's not well-known, but back when our sister board, Free Dominion, was having problems with the sysop's antiquated home PC, he very generously gave her a couple of much more modern units-- he's a good young man.

Yeah, there are quite a few.
There are also some who remain FReepers in good standing.

I knew that he's been struggling with severe health problems, but I wasn't aware that he had cancer.
Let's pray that he's back soon.
FR just isn't the same without Sacred Cow Burgers.

Very sad news. AFE will be missed by all of us. Rest in peace, patriotic American.

Oh nooooooooooooooooooooo............................!
As strange as it may seem, to some, Apes and I were very good friends. We had corresponded in private, for years and though I knew he was ill, I didn't know that he was that close to death. This is crushing news...simply crushing. He was a lovely man, a dear, dear friend, and he will will be missed.
My condolences to his family and I'm sure that he is now free from pain and care, dwelling forever with God.
Blurry screen..............

Oh my. Prayers for him and his family. Do you know him well? Can you let his family know how well liked and respected he was by so many of us?
I'd only known him for a few months, but he, Jan in Colorado and broadsword were the first FReepers I became friends with.

Yes, he was a good friend of Israel; God knew this, I am sure.

What a lovely picture! It really helps visualize the love that awaits us all (well..most of us, hopefully) in heaven with the Lord. Apes is with Him.
Thank you for the heart warming picture.

I lost my mother to Cancer, the poor women suffered horribly as it consumed her Forgive the aside, but your post resonated big time, because Sunday was Mother's day. Lost mine two years ago to breast cancer; she never had a chance even though detected early it just consumed her, consumed her so quickly. I hope for Apes it was not as painful and at least now he knows only peace..broadsword should be informed, he had a lot of respect for Apes, I'll email him.

Doesn't it seem that way? Prayers for Apes, and an extra prayer here would seem appropriate for dear Texas Cowboy..

A nice tribute would be to do a search and come up with the best of the Apeisms; he sure knew how to zing them!

Speaking of "apeisms", I once asked how he arrived at that screen name. Instead of telling me straight out this mischievous spirit said that if I guessed correctly he'd confirm it - if the guess was wrong I'd have to work harder.
Shades of Rumpelstiltskin!
It was from the scene in the original "Planet of the Apes" where young Chimpanzees were protesting their governments (the Orangutan's) crackdown on science while seeing it as a threat to the established theocracy.
One of the protester's signs wittily stated:
"Apes For Evolution".

I'm right with you. Thank goodness (and God) our last exchanges were funny, as he always was!

He was a dear friend...funny, honest, and always there for his friends. He and I never had a cross word; in public or in private. And we actually wound up agreeing about many things; he and I against many others, on some threads. Yeah, I know that that is going to shock some here, but it's the truth.
I'm going to see if I still have his last letters and reread them. I hope I didn't delete them all. *sigh*

Too many good Freepers are being banned, like Sabertooth and Joe Hadenuf...
