I thought Frist was adamant that there be no deals cut that would not allow an up or down vote on all nominees. Of course, he can only demand that if he has the support. Lott's proposal would likely cut that support off at the knees.

Let's hope the Senate GOP doesn't do what it always does --snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
