As Germany's defeat loomed during the final months of World War II, Adolf Hitler increasingly lapsed into delusional fits of fantasy.
Albert Speer, in his prison writings, recounts an episode in which a maniacal Hitler "pictured for himself and for us the destruction of New York in a hurricane of fire."
The Nazi fuehrer described skyscrapers turning into "gigantic burning torches, collapsing upon one another, the glow of the exploding city illuminating the dark sky."
An approximation of Hitler's hellish vision came true on Sept. 11, when terrorists destroyed the Twin Towers in New York, killing nearly 3,000 people. But it was not Nazis or even neo-Nazis who carried out the attack the deadliest terror strike in history allegedly came at the hands of foreign Muslim extremists.
Still, in the aftermath of the slaughter, white supremacists in America and Europe applauded the suicide attacks and praised Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the massacre.
An official of America's premier neo-Nazi group, the National Alliance, said he wished his own members had "half as much testicular fortitude." The awestruck leader of another U.S. Nazi group called the terrorists "VERY BRAVE PEOPLE."
Neofascist youth in France celebrated the event that evening with champagne at the headquarters of the extreme right Front National. German neo-Nazis, some wearing checkered Palestinian headscarves, rejoiced at street demonstrations while burning an American flag.
Jan Kopal, head of the Czech National Social Bloc, declared at a rally in Prague that bin Laden was "an example for our children."
Horst Mahler, a former left-wing terrorist and prominent member of the neo-Nazi National Democratic Party (NPD) in Germany, proclaimed his solidarity with the terrorists and said America had gotten what it deserved.
What's going on here?

America appears to be the number one enemy of the Nazi, and it probably has something to do with Americas performance in WWII. America also appears to be the number one enemy of the Islamic Terrorist, and this probably has something to do with Americas performance in the Gulf Wars.
What's going on here is an effort by an extremly left wing money machine run by Morris Dees called The Southern Poverty Law Center to gin up more money for the center. The center, operated by a former direct mailer has exploited those mailing secrets to become one of the most sucessful solicitor of liberals' money primarly through scare tatics so transparent here.
Dees was sucessful in a suit against the Klu Klux Klan thus putting them out of business (which was a good thing) by obtaining a huge money judgment by distorting the intent of the federal anti mafia statutes and taking a step toward criminalizing political thought and speech (which is a bad thing)
Now Dees is directing his activism against the Minutemen along our southern borders in an attempt to intimidate them with the same sort of lawsuit and to further leftist goals of open immigration.
Naturally, Dees is a darling of the media and is often quoteed authoritatively. By wraping himself and his Center in formulaic anti-nazi (who could be against that) and anti-racist (ditto) and now anti-terrorist (double ditto) rhetoric he makes himself and his organization above legitimate criticism.
Nothing could be more dangerous than a Leftist lawyer with a sympathetic leftist judge, a bully pulpit in the media, and very very deep pockets.
This article should have been posted only with a CAVEAT EMPTOR.
Did you read the article? This could have been published in FrontPage.com (in fact, something very similar was posted here from FrontPage.com). The article is linking Islamofascists with Nazi and Neo-Nazi extremists.
If, as you say, the SPLC is left wing, and left wing groups are beginning to understand the connection, then this is great news for the US and the global war on terror. It also is devastating news for CAIR.
"If" ?!?
With all due respect, where have you been? (that's rhetorical)
The SPLC is a freaking communist organization. They hide behind the facade of being "anti nazi". Anyone who disagrees with them gets the label of Nazi or or the ever popular 'anti semite' label.
Even before World War II, Western fascists began to forge ideological and operational ties to Islamic extremists.
Ping
Mark my words, old Morris Dees and his crowd will find a way to use this to bash Christians and conservatives.
A real smart man once said that leopards don't/can't change thir spots.

Perhaps the roots for this operational tie actually began as far back as when the King of France betrayed and attacked the original Knights Templar ? On the bad luck day Friday the 13th ? On that day the islamic extremists knew that their goals can occasionally coincide with the goals of some of Europes elite fascist.
Thanks for the ping!
