Nimitz Carrier Strike Group to deploy on May 7
More than 6,200 sailors from the USS Nimitz Carrier Strike Group will deploy from San Diego May 7 to conduct operations in the Central and Western Pacific.
They will support the global war on terrorism with joint and combined operations, according to the Navy.
The Nimitz strike group includes Carrier Air Wing 11, Destroyer Squadron 23, the missile cruiser USS Princeton, the guided missile destroyers USS Higgins and USS Chafe, the USS Bridge, and the attack submarine USS Louisville. Nimitz carries approximately 3.5 million gallons of fuel to support more than 70 aircraft and three escort ships, and enough weapons and stores for extended operations without replenishment. The flight deck covers 4.5 acres and is nearly seven stories above the water.
The Nimitz group's last deployment included support for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003.
Nimitz, ping!
Uh, ya think North Korea will get the message??
Iran? In joint operations with the IAF?
N. Korean won't back down under any circumstance. They may adjust their schedule, but they won't veer off the course. They will pop the cork(nuke test) eventually. Probably this summer.
I had a son on the Nimitz in the late 80s, early 90s. He flew a Prowler -- EA-6B.
Families had a chance to go for a day sail, and we were given tours of the ship by some nice young guys. I asked one of them if he found it strange to have all the women and kids aboard. His answer?----- "It's the perfume, Ma-am"!
They won't back down, but the U.S. is giving them something to think about. I pretty sure they know that we probably have nuke subs right off their coast just in case they get "twitchy".
That is probably enough fuel to run the N. Korean economy for a month.
Iraq doesn't have much of an air force yet, but I will bet they get some sweet aircraft when the time is right.
(P.S. I knew you were refering to Israel.)
How about a friendly port call to Taiwan?
Now, there's an idea...

Minus my nephew, who recently broke his ankle, is on crutches and is considered a fire hazard! (His new nickname is "Clank")
Central and West Pacific sounds like routine operations with easy access to North Korea if needed.
We aren't going to see any overt military action against NK or Iran any time soon unless they hit first. The political groundwork just isn't there for action.
" They will pop the cork(nuke test) eventually. Probably this summer. "
Please elaborate ...
Do you remember the movie ( Seven Days and Seven Nights with Harrison Ford ) ?
Near the end of the movie the bad guys were on a boat and they had their boat gun pointed at Quinn Harris ( Harrison Ford ) and Robin Monroe ( Anne Heche ) coming towards them in the airplane.
When the bad guys shot off the boat gun, the gun turned up and the gun shell went straight up in the air and came back down on them.
Maybe this will happen to the North Koreans and Kim Gone ILL if they were to shoot off a live nuke, let's hope Kim Gone ILL is in the visinity when this happens.

Let's hope that they screw up and have themselves killed, including Chia Bastard.
Fox News reported on NK satilite photos of a "reviewing stand" being built. I think the suggestion was there'd be a detonation sometime this summer and Lil Kim would be there.
