Mosquitos are Houston's number 1 crop.

Totally tongue-in-cheek. But I probably shouldn't be joking anymore on this thread, too much sensitivity from a myriad of issues boiling over on a rivalry thread that normally would be just humorous ribbing, but perhaps right now isn't the best time to be poking everyone with sticks.

Like I said.. where did you go to college? Or did you even go? How old are you anyway? Is school out for the day?

Do I have your permission to post your Freepmail to me here?

It really is not that big a deal, but it would be full disclosure and clear any misconceptions.

A small school in Sarasota, FL, called Barnum and Bailey. Or maybe not. Old enough to know the significance of Webb AFB, Sharpstown, and the best little Chicken Ranch in LaGrange. I dunno, but if you have to drive 20mph through a school zone right now, I'd say the odds are likely.

The dust devils made me do it.

Why would you wanna avoid Odessa? There is so much to do there; as soon as I can figure out what you can do in Odessa for fun, I'll let you know...

Even if Odessa were a paradise, which (let's face it) it ain't, the porch tarantulas alone would net it a place on my No Way in Hell Am I Ever Goin' THERE Again list.

No, Houston is hot and humid and has bad streets and worse freeways, and we have no zoning but we do have a Democrat mayor.

However, I'm a reptile so I like heat. Humidity is keeping me looking quite a bit younger than I am. Bad streets and worse freeways are why God invented shocks and fat tires. And as for the rest, this too shall pass.

Y'all have a crater? Why was I not informed?

This may necessitate re-evaluation.

Yes, Odessa has a meteor crater and it is, sort of, a public park.

Also, I am not from Odessa, but I have visited the place and driven through it. I lived in Midland for a year as an intern and make occasional visits to Arthur Ray's for a good lunch.

Xena, there is no rule, but it is not polite to just jump into a thread and remark how someplace we all love is not up to your standards - there was no need so it was just rude.

I don't know or care what you think about breastfeeding, but if your attitude on those threads about something you have no experience with was as rude as your remarks here, then I imagine you got dogpiled there as well.

It is a combination of what once were two newspapers. Lubbock had the Morning Avalanche and the Evening Journal. When the two papers were consolidated, they dubbed the new newspaper the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. According to local historical records, "avalanche" was meant to refer to "an avalanche of news and information."
