Announcement: DC Chapter v. Code Pink, Round V - Walter Reed Main Gate, Friday May 6, 2005
DC Chapter ^ | May 5, 2005 | tgslTakoma

Posted on 05/05/2005 1:48:10 PM PDT by tgslTakoma

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic invites all FReepers and lurkers in good standing to join us tomorrow evening outside Walter Reed Army Medical Center in a patriotic counter-demonstration of the anti-American group Code Pink.

We will gather across from the main gate to Walter Reed to show support for our men and women in uniform recovering from wounds received fighting the war on terrorists in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere.

Please bring American flags, large and small, and signs bearing messages of support for our troops and their mission.

When: Friday, May 6, 7:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Walter Reed Army Medical Center, 7200 Georgia Avenue, NW, Washington, D.C.
Weather: Mostly cloudy, small chance of rain, with temps in the mid to upper 50s at night.

We will gather at the northeast corner of Georgia Avenue and Elder Street, across from the main gate of WRAMC.

TOPICS: Activism/Chapters; US: District of Columbia; US: Maryland; US: Virginia
KEYWORDS: codepink; codepinkdc; dcchapter; supportourtroops; walterreed
If you are within a reasonable commuting distance to Walter Reed, please consider "donating" your Friday night to this effort to show support for the men and women of our military who are recuperating from their wounds (at the hands of Code Pink's insurgent pals).

Code Pink is also planning to hijack Mothers Day weekend for counter recruitment protests in cities across the country. I will post a thread with information on those activities later tonight, for those of you not in the DC area. There may be an opportunity in your town to counter Code Pink's lies.

EAGLES UP !!

Who's in for tomorrow?

If you will be coming in via Metro (Takoma station is closest) and need pick up, let us know. We will try to coordinate.

For folks driving in, parking is abundant, free, and very convenient.

I'd like to know if Code Pink is planning to try anything like that in Colorado Springs. I doubt it, since this is such a conservative and military town.

I'm in for tomorrow and will probably take the subway. Buford has another matter to attend to. Trueblackman is planning on attending, but we can't go there together because of where he will be coming from.

Here is the CP list of events for counter-recruitment campaign this weekend, http://www.codepink4peace.org/article.php?id=271 No DC area event is listed.

It would be useful an earlier announcement. I live in Ohio and really want to get in the faces of these people with my poster but need a little more time to get ready for the trip than the day before the event.

LOL

I would be there without hesitation if we were in the area. What an opportunity to set them straight!

This was basically a reminder announcement.

We are having these FReeps of Code Pinkos at Walter Reed every Friday night until further notice, as mentioned on this thread (see comments on first post)http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1389728/posts.

Understandably, you probably didn't see the earlier announcement as part of the previous After-Action Report.

Ohio is away from DC, but let me know and I would be happy to add you to the DC Chapter ping list. Even if you can't get to a DC Chapter activity, being on the list will keep you updated on our activities.

Hope to see you at some future FReep!

Sorry about the last-minute announcement. Consider yourself invited to Freep next Friday; same time, same place.

I'll have a thread that may be of local Freep interest to you; will post it a little later today (after I've finished MOAB prep work for our event tonight). Keep an eye peeled...

Just back from an errand. I checked and Metro coming back would take much more than double the time that it takes for me to drive home.

I'd rather put up with the traffic driving there, then have such a late and slow trip home.
