And will US taxpayers now pick up the cost for their long term care or would Tyson's be held responsible if they are illegals?? Better yet, why don't we deport all of those who are in the US illegally and let their home country worry about their care. Unfortunately, we know the answer. N matter how it comes out, we will pay.

"Tyson Foods, Beverly donate to inauguration
Tuesday, Jan 11, 2005

By Alison Vekshin
Stephens Washington Bureau
WASHINGTON -- Arkansas companies Tyson Foods, Inc., and Beverly Enterprises, Inc., have contributed $150,000 toward events surrounding President Bush's inauguration next week.

The two firms are the latest Arkansas contributors to the 55th Presidential Inaugural Committee, which is arranging the inaugural balls, the parade and other events in the four-day celebration.

Tyson Foods, the Springdale-based meat-processing giant, gave $100,000 in response to a request from the inaugural committee, spokesman Gary Mickelson said.

"We do this to be supportive of the political process in America," Mickelson said.

I hear ya. My aunt is a public school teacher in NJ. She has 15 students; every one an illegal alien. Over 20% of the license plates in my neighborhood are from out of state-mostly from North Carolina. We are paying in many ways.

I notice the article dances around terms like individuals and workers. Just out of curiosity, I wonder whether the individual who first came down with the disease was a Smith or Jones or, perhaps, more at Gonzales or Hernandez or Ramiriz.

No possible connection, of course, to any of these previous FR threads......

(Vanity) Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime

Illegal immigration is not a victimless crime. Ignoring the possible terrorists and known criminals coming in, the balkanization affect on society, the fact that each illegal alien costs US taxpayers about $80,000 more than they pay in taxes, there is a far bigger danger – your health. A report in the spring 2005 issue of the Journal of American Physicians and Surgeons, by Madeleine Pelner Cosman (FYI: she is a speaker for Feminist for Free Expression, about as far left as one can get) states "The influx of illegal aliens has serious hidden medical consequences…” and "We judge reality primarily...

Disease, unwanted import

Contagious diseases are entering the United States because of immigrants, illegal aliens, refugees and travelers, and World Health Organization officials say the worst could be yet to come. In addition to a list of imported diseases that includes tuberculosis, sickle cell anemia, hepatitis B, measles and the potentially deadly parasitic disease Chagas, officials fear what could happen if the avian flu, which is flourishing among poultry in Southeast Asia, mutates so that it is capable of human-to-human transmission through casual contact.

Without prosecution of employers AND better border enforcement, there is absolutely no incentive for employers not to hire illegals.

I agree. I've written to my congresscritters about this, but never received a reply.

My "plan:"

For a first offense, the employer would be fined $500 per employee, if they have false "documentation," and $1000 if they don't. After that, it no longer matters. This would just be a "wakeup call" to make sure that they have good documentation.

On the second offense, the employer would be fined $5,000 per illegal employee.

On a third offense, it goes up to $25,000 per illegal.

When the jobs for illegal aliens dry up, they'll stop coming.

"If you were Tyson Foods, you'd hire them too. No penalty for it."

You're absolutely wrong. If I were Tyson I would be obeying the law.

correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't tyson had an outbreak in the fairly recent past? I think I remember hearing someone. Either something the workers caught, or something the chickens had.

Don't recall, but Tyson has been in trouble for smuggling illegals to be workers.

Here's an interesting website.

http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/tb/tb-mbovis.shtml

Even though the article says you can't get TB from food, you can get it from unpasteurized milk, and this website mentions that Mexican's may have acquired it from drinking unpasteurized milk...thus the bit in the article stating they may have had it before.

We lived out of the country when my son was small and in order to enter school he had to have a BCG vaccine. It is my understanding that should he ever be tested for TB, his test will come up positive even though he has never had TB.
From what I've been told, only way to truly determine is somebody is infected with active TB is an x-ray.

My plan: Raid McDonalds. If there is so much as 1 illegal alien, confiscate the store property, sell it at auction, jail the owners 120 days for each illegal, fine the owners $25,000 per illegal, fin the managers $5,000 per illegal, jail the illegals for 120 days then send them home. The bank loses the property, the owner looses the property and their liberty, McDonalds looses a store and faces public discrimination.

Get on the 5:00 news and announce the result sof the raid and state that there will be W-2, W-4, and I-9 inspections of each and every business in the area.

Wanna bet there isn't an illegal in town left by the next day?

Years ago, my father got me started in the chicken business as a way to help pay for college.

We raised free range chickens-- that is, those that were hatched in the spring, got some outdoor exposure scratching for weeds, bugs and worms. They reached maturity shortly after the first frost in the fall and we loaded them up and took them to a Mennonite plant for processing.

We couldn't compete with the Tyson battery-raised junk sold in the supermarkets in terms of price. The first year, we had to hustle to find customers and convince people paying extra for chickens raised and processed under decent conditions was worth the money.

The second year, we made a few phone calls to our first-year customers and a few names they had given us as possibilities.

The third year, we had more calls than we could supply chickens to meet. It was a decent seasonal income, but the Tysons of the world will never allow such competition to take root so long as their subsidized by cheapened labor costs, social costs paid by the taxpayers.
