I'll get to First Lady Laura Bush's bawdy stand-up routine in a minute. But I want to highlight a related new book out about how young conservatives are shaking up the dominant liberal media culture. It's called "South Park Conservatives." My name is listed on the cover along with many other (mostly) right-leaning pundits, websites, and bloggers, but I must confess to having mixed feelings about the honor.
The best-selling book's author, Brian C. Anderson of the Manhattan Institute, writes a fun, breezy survey documenting the rise of talk radio, FOX News, the Internet, conservative publishing, and college Republican activism. Anderson's chapter on the success of conservative talk radio and the abysmal failure of liberal Air America to replicate it is incisive. There are two kinds of libertarians. There is the Walter Williams type who simply realize that there is no problem so bad government can't make it worse. Then there is the Libertarian party type who are only interested in advertising their moral virtue and their next bong hit. And of course, nearly the only virtue they recognize is thinking that any philosophy other than "if it feels good, do it" amounts to rank hypocrisy.
Hollywood loves stuff that makes fun of Jesus.
I maintain the South Park ping list. It contains many devout Christians and Jews.
Alrighty then, churchillbutt once again comes to encourage division. Amazing.
Rush is a radio man. A very talented talker. Savage is a hack.
To listen to Rush or to a great play by play guy like Vin Sculley is a joy. These guys are just talented cats.

I think this whole 'South Park Conservative' thing is the next wave of soccer moms and angry white men - invented demographics that give the media a preset story they can milk for the next two years.
Associating youthful, hip, bourgeois conservatives with a vulgar TV show is a way for the media to ignore the lack of mainstream Democratic Party ideas and the Roe effect.
Is South Park conservative? I don't think inherently so. SP has no sacred cows. American liberalism, built on demogougery and white guilt, has more sacred cows than conservatism, which is hard to pin down in terms of a unified philosophy.
And on South Park, liberal cows get slayed with particular abandon.
Is Walter E. Williams a small "l" or big "L" L/libertarian? I like his ideas with regard to fiscal issues but am a little unclear on where he stands on moral issues.
Amazing is right. I've been too busy to FReep much since November, but I get some time this week and he's still here, playing the same silly game.
I wouldn't say it's that simple.
Limbauigh puts a great radio sheen on his ideas.
I don't think Michael Savage is acting. He's rough but I believe honest. He's pissed off - with good reason.
I believe that the Constimatooshin, Losertarian, and Green parties combined drew less than 1% of the popular vote.
Hate the sin, love the sinner. Every thread I've ever seen on FreeRepublic involving South Park becomes rabidly vicious as soon as the "Christian Conservatives Who Don't Like South Park" show up. They come in with nasty remarks, challenging the ability of fans of the show to be A) Conservatives and B) Christians.
I'm a conservative and a Christian and a fan of South Park, and you can't stop me.
Its in his mission statement. Caveat emptor.

Based on how I've seen SP liberals act on on FR, I stand by my earlier opinions.
Surprise? Why would I be surprised? I read what she wrote. And I read what you wrote.
What doesn't surprise me is that I asked you a direct question and here you are once again bashing Peach.
That's so telling. And as predictable as a macro.
And I don't get morally superior rushes: I'm one of the ones who actually can comprehend the fact that I'm fallable and not perfect, unlike some of you who don't seem to accept the fact that others have different religious views than you do.
What you are is what somebody else said today about the self-rightous pontificators among us:
"I think you guys are funny, in a confirm-every-uptight-stereotype-of-the-religious right kind of way."
Eh? On South Park, Jesus always wins, no matter what the apparent odds and even though everyone always bets against him. Honestly, I think they put Christianity in a better light than most Christians, distilling it down to its essence.
South Park is not "Christophobic". A recurring theme is the slamming of self-serving hypocrites who use Christianity for their own ends while ignoring its basic principles. And as far as I can see, they are pretty close to the mark when it comes to their chosen targets.
I don't like South Park. Too vulgar for me. And I don't like Hollywood ridiculing Jesus Christ. Maybe you work in Hollywood, maybe that's why you don't like me saying something "divisive" about their crappy potty-mouthed shows.
