I'll get to First Lady Laura Bush's bawdy stand-up routine in a minute. But I want to highlight a related new book out about how young conservatives are shaking up the dominant liberal media culture. It's called "South Park Conservatives." My name is listed on the cover along with many other (mostly) right-leaning pundits, websites, and bloggers, but I must confess to having mixed feelings about the honor.

The best-selling book's author, Brian C. Anderson of the Manhattan Institute, writes a fun, breezy survey documenting the rise of talk radio, FOX News, the Internet, conservative publishing, and college Republican activism. Anderson's chapter on the success of conservative talk radio and the abysmal failure of liberal Air America to replicate it is incisive. Another chapter on the blogosphere (alone worth the price of the book)

Of the talking heads on the news channels these days she is in the lightweight category.

If, rather than being a hot chick, Malkin was an overweight white guy in his 50's, does anyone think she'd be anywhere as well known as she is?

Right. It was the moderates who stayed home on election day in 1992 and 1996. If you believe that, I've got some fine swamp land to sell you.

My discomfort with "South Park's" increasingly mainstream vulgarity is not a matter of nitpicking. We're not just talking about a stray curse word here or there. As liberal New York Times columnist Frank Rich points out, "South Park" "holds the record for the largest number of bleeped-out repetitions (162) of a single four-letter expletive in a single television half-hour."

Michelle, you completely missed the point of this episode. And it is not surprising as you most assuradly didn't watch it.

They didn't stay home, They voted for PErot= -- and, in some cases, for Clinton. there was an active "prochoice republicans for Clinton" group in 96. Google it and you can educate yourself.

As for Christians, there are people on this thread (who know who they are) that have gone insane since the Schiavo situation (when they were callously referred to as Nazis), and are ready to drop trou and start a pissing contest whenever they detect anything that resembles "right-wing" Christian attitudes.

I sorta agree with you, with the difference being that proponents on each side of the issue were nutzo. But you're right, it is pretty much the same subset of Christians, the needlebutt element, that can be counted on to back the law, unless, hypocritically, its a TS associated issue.

I'm compelled to attack the needlebutt element, who I have come to believe are worse than liberals. The needlebutts are not doing evangelical Christianity any good, at all.

You're right that no one can stop you. As for vulgarity, that's a matter of opinion and I certainly wouldn't want to try to change yours. To each his own. But on the "Christian-baiting" charge, you're just factually wrong. People have been trying to tell you that but your mind is locked on to your pre-existing opinion, and there's nothing wrong with trying to point it out.

The problem is that most cultural and social conservatives aren't too crazy (or outright hate) South Park, for just the reasons that Michelle Malkin states. On the other hand, fiscal conservatives for the most part, really don't have any problems with it at all. That's where the divide comes in...

If you're a social and fiscal conservative, SP probably isn't your cup of tea. If you're more of a classical liberal (meaning socially liberal, but fiscally conservative), or of a libertarian bent, then (as long as the kids aren't watching), you probably find SP a real hoot. And of course, it helps if you think booger and fart jokes are funny! lol

But I keep seeing posts claiming that Trey and Matt are conservatives: They're not! If anything, they're closer to libertarian (and I'd guess "big 'L'" Libertarian at that!)

Rush, IMO, knows what he's talking about (or has smart aides who provide him with the info he needs). Malkin and Coulter are nothing more than conservative cheesecake.

Oh, I agree. I was just making a sad attempt at humor. I think Rush occasionally can make liberals think while Coulter's over-the-top rhetoric tends to just make them laugh. However, you'll be hard pressed to get some Freepers to admit anything negative about Ann.

If you don't mind me asking, why? I'm honestly interested. I watch it myself and even though it's racey sometimes, I don't run from the room screaming. What am I missing? (And please don't tell me it doesn't bother me because I'm neither a social or cultural conservative.......LOL)
