Laura leaves 'em laughing, gasping (Not a very family-values-type speech..very risque: David Korn)

Who knew? First lady Laura Bush took over the podium from her husband at Saturday night's annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner and knocked 'em dead, keeping Washington's most powerful politicos in stitches as she worked the ballroom like a seasoned stand-up comic.
CUT
Although Washington's movers and shakers laughed at Mrs. Bush's performance, some in the press woke up with a Sunday morning hangover and began to criticize her monologue as immodest at best and downright bawdy at worst.
"Laura Bush cracks risque jokes at the White House Correspondents' dinner," sniffed Agence France-Presse. CNN reporter Elaine Quijano, who attended the dinner, also apparently had her sensibilities scarred by some of the first lady's quips.
"In some respects, I think for some folks it was a little shocking because she kind of crossed the line a little bit in some people's minds," she said.
"It was very risque," the Nation's David Korn said yesterday on Fox News. "I was wondering what the social conservatives and James Dobson had to say about all these jokes that were laced with sexual innuendo. Not a very family-values-type speech. I'm not sure I want to explain a lot of those jokes to my 4-year-old."
Eyebrows were raised by the first lady's bit about the president's ranching skills, which Mrs. Bush said her husband lacked because the elite schools he attended, Andover and Yale, "don't have a real strong ranching program."
She then added: "He's learned a lot about ranching since that first year when he tried to milk the horse. What's worse, it was a male horse."
The crowd howled. The joke, a female Associated Press reporter said, "had women giggling in the bathroom."

Yes........that is EXACTLY what I meant.
Yikes! It's easy to get in trouble around here when you don't know the dirty stuff! (Though the 'moralists' on this very thread have given me an education on a lot of filth that I never heard before).
Anyway......thanks for the help, tomkat!

You are correct. My post was mean-spirited and uncalled for. I have asked the moderator to remove it.

Which is why so many Christians on this thread have rebuked you, farmer.
Fine. I don't mind rebuke. If I go "over the top" in criticizing Laura Bush for her incredibly poor taste, and poor leadership, I deserve rebuke, even if the cause is just. I didn't, for the record, call her a whore; I said that only a whore would speak that way. But even if I had called her a whore, this forum is full of them--myself included. We compromise our principles as conservatives everyday in order to gain larger audiences. There is simply no excuse for her swallowing the gag lines of a paid comic, so as to pander out a few chuckles from the establisment press. It's not one of her greatest moments. The fact that so many people swallow their principles in order to defend her in this instance of bad judgement is also a call for rebuke--yourself included. Politics is not a rah, rah pom-pom rally, ohioWfan. It should be about truth. The fact is that no one is proud of a female relative who makes trash television jokes, unless they are so blind to the truth they are beyond hope.

It IS about truth. And you're not telling it.
You said.....I didn't, for the record, call her a whore; I said that only a whore would speak that way.
If one of my now grown children had used such a pathetic excuse for doing or saying something that disgusting when they were young, they'd be punished for it.......probably for the rest of their lives.
Fortunately, our four kids are mature and decent and moral, and would never spew the garbage that you have done on this thread in the name of 'morality.'
You don't have an ounce of credibility for anyone who actually HAS morals, farmer. Not unless you repent and confess it to everyone you have offended with your vulgarity.
I will pray for you that your spiritual eyes will be opened.

Just one question, you come from the South, so you could probably enlighten me. Is gumbo supposed to be spicy as hell? LOL
I say this because I am enjoying a bowl of Campbell's Chicken & Gumbo soup. Very delicious, yet very SPICY! (I love spicy food)
To: farmer18th
I didn't, for the record, call her a whore; I said that only a whore would speak that way. Which, if anybody is paying attention, is really saying the same thing.
Its a little late for y'all to show up to the party and claim to have been saying something different than what you've been saying.

"It was very risque," And Pat Buchanan loves Jews, and Ted Kennedy hates booze, and McDermitt is sane, the NEA favors school vouchers, and Helen Thomas is hot.

Several versions: Cajun, Creole, seafood, chicken, --- "google it."
My New Orleans (Nawlins) born mother made both Cajun and Creole, and as a little girl, I hated both....lol.

Please don't. None of us need the prayer of cultists. You are so blinded by your adoration of the Bush family that you can't even bring yourself to admit that a Christian sister shouldn't be telling jokes about strip clubs, and television shows glorifying infidelity.
It's not that difficult to understand, however much you may decry my rhetoric.

Ah, thanks for that bit of info. I didn't realize there was more than one variety! It's very GOOD though! Chicken and rice and loads of spice! LMAO!!
To: BigSkyFreeper
I like spicy... but prefer (gasp) Mexican spicy and also the Japanese wasabi (a green paste that's so hot it cures the common cold). I have never gained a liking for Cajun.

Not really. Read the rest of my post. The most general description of whorish behaviour is selling out your principles for gain. Say what you will, laugh however hard you may, that was not a speech Republicans can, or should, be proud of. It was gross, tasteless, wanton pandering, and it will keep thousands of believers, many of them long term Democrats, far away from anything Republican. If you're going to be the family values party, BE THE FAMILY VALUES PARTY, STUPID.

Sir, you have no right to critique my spirituality at all.
You are vulgar and irrational, and accusatory, and wrong. And you lie.
Your refusal to accept the prayers of a fellow Christian is an indication that it is you who lack a relationship with the Savior.
I will keep praying for your soul, whether you like it or not..........because my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who shed His blood for my sin, has commanded me to pray, even for my enemies, and those who falsely accuse me.

That definitely crosses a line. Have you lost all sense? That's the kind of joke the Chairman Of The Board Of Deacons can tell the Pastor with no fear of being regarded as indecent.
The joke isn't about sex, it's about ineptitude.
What is with the FR Wackjob Contingent?
To: ohioWfan
Your credibility, as a Christian brother, by the way, would go up immeasurably if you would admit that her actions represented bad judgement. Will you?
