Laura leaves 'em laughing, gasping (Not a very family-values-type speech..very risque: David Korn)

Who knew? First lady Laura Bush took over the podium from her husband at Saturday night's annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner and knocked 'em dead, keeping Washington's most powerful politicos in stitches as she worked the ballroom like a seasoned stand-up comic.

CUT

Although Washington's movers and shakers laughed at Mrs. Bush's performance, some in the press woke up with a Sunday morning hangover and began to criticize her monologue as immodest at best and downright bawdy at worst.

"Laura Bush cracks risque jokes at the White House Correspondents' dinner," sniffed Agence France-Presse. CNN reporter Elaine Quijano, who attended the dinner, also apparently had her sensibilities scarred by some of the first lady's quips.

"In some respects, I think for some folks it was a little shocking because she kind of crossed the line a little bit in some people's minds," she said.

"It was very risque," the Nation's David Korn said yesterday on Fox News. "I was wondering what the social conservatives and James Dobson had to say about all these jokes that were laced with sexual innuendo. Not a very family-values-type speech. I'm not sure I want to explain a lot of those jokes to my 4-year-old."

Eyebrows were raised by the first lady's bit about the president's ranching skills, which Mrs. Bush said her husband lacked because the elite schools he attended, Andover and Yale, "don't have a real strong ranching program."

She then added: "He's learned a lot about ranching since that first year when he tried to milk the horse. What's worse, it was a male horse."

The crowd howled. The joke, a female Associated Press reporter said, "had women giggling in the bathroom."

Apparently the concept of irony escapes you...a brand of humor that God employs all the time, but if we were to weigh His sense of irony against your statements, GOD would be unclean.

Let's see: Following your assertion to its logical end, we would need to find a passage in the Bible where God, complaining of His lover's lack of passion, then compared himself to a club hopping bimbo, who watches trash TV and drops dollar bills in the shorts of exotic dancers.

Which passage is that?

But Laura is neither the self-righteous Pharisee, nor the tax-collector

I see your reading comprehension skills are as dim as ever. I said YOUR actions typified the example of the Pharisee in question, and you continue to prove it, post-by-post.

You know it's kind of funny: I never once claimed to be the moral superior of Laura Bush; I never once gave a public prayer thanking God I wasn't like Laura Bush; I never once enumerated my virtues for you to record. So the prayer of the Pharisee is a long stretch and one brought on--I think--by what I did do: rebuke Laura Bush. Rebuking is not allowed anymore, because we practice the politics of nice--no matter how trashy we get along the way.

Chippendales is a club where you go to watch people dance.

Ahemm... thanks for that... um... clarification.

Does that work for you and your 4 year old?

Just what are you suggesting?  Sounds illegal.

Get your mind out of the gutter.

Okay... make mental note... Chippendales is place... watch people dance... got it.

An artist (student etc) sketches and paints nude models. The human body is a pure art form as are other creatures in God's universe (art in nature through geometry). What is your feeling on perhaps for example, Codercpc, taking an evening art or photography class where nude(s)pose before her?

I'm listening to some clips on Savage. She managed to sound creepy and stupid at the same time.

The posts you've littered throughout this thread on the subject are the moral equivalent of the same, and you well know it.

Rebuking is not allowed anymore, because we practice the politics of nice--no matter how trashy we get along the way

It is a long haul from "rebuking" someone for an activity one thinks is in poor taste to invoking terms like "whore" and "slutty." And you well know that, too.

Ah...........another exemplary "Christian" heard from.......

Thanks for that uplifting and cogent post. You make all of us proud.

Where in the Bible do you find a Christian's job description is to "uplift" you?  I personally believe that it is to make you uncomfortable.

I will concede that my original post lacked a proper sense of decorum.

Basically it means that some people have a log in their eye others walk around with it jammed into a different orifice.

Maybe it's just me but somehow I think your interpretation of Jesus' words fails the hermeneutic test.

Dang... I guess the bit calling her a whore was meant to be a complement then? Pardon us for misunderstanding.

It's sorta' astonishing that this thread is still going on. Do you know O.C.? O.C. is that you?

We will likely never know, but one wonders if you'd have the same fortitude to say the same thing to her face as is posted hereabouts.

I gotta say I see a great deal of irony in the fact that we are arguing the timeless humor of the 'milk the horse' joke with a guy who claims to be a farmer.

I'd have to wonder if he's really a farmer...

Or.. maybe he made the same mis...

~oooooh~ ;~D

"She may have said somethings that had sexual overtones but did she use the F bomb once? At the JF'nK fund raiser, how many fbombs did whoopiepie Goldberg use?"

Whoopie Goldberg isn't the First Lady. In fact she isn't even a "lady"....just some liberal Hollywood skank.
