Arrested father had point to make Disputed school's lesson on "diversity"
Boston Globe ^ | April 29, 2005 | By Maria Cramer and Ralph Ranalli

CONCORD -- For David Parker, the first alarm went off in January, when his 5-year-old son came home from his kindergarten class at Lexington's Joseph Estabrook School with a bag of books promoting diversity. Inside were books about foreign cultures and traditions, along with food recipes. There was also a copy of ''Who's In a Family?" by Robert Skutch, which depicts different kinds of families, including same-sex couples raising children. The book's contents concerned Parker and prompted him to begin a series of e-mail exchanges with school officials on the subject that culminated in a meeting Wednesday night with Estabrook's principal and district director of instruction. The meeting ended with Parker's arrest after he refused to leave the school, and the Lexington man spent the night in jail. Yesterday, Parker was arraigned in Concord District Court on one count of trespassing, and a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. Bail was set at $1,000, and Parker was freed after being ordered to stay off Lexington school property. He is due back in court June 1. Parker and his wife, Tonia, 34, who was also in court yesterday, said the dispute arose because they asked school officials to notify them about classroom discussions about same-sex marriage and what they called other adult themes. They also wanted the option to exclude their boy, now 6, from those talks. Parker said he met with school officials to gain those assurances and then refused to leave until he got them.

Fine, then publish the names, faces, and home addresses of the arresting officers. See if they can stand the heat.

If this isn't a wake-up call to get your kids the h=11 out of the government schools I don't know what is

The wake-up call has been happening for 30 years, but people groan and hit the snooze buttom.

I would rather have my kids as idiots than indoctrinate them in the Public School.

BTW - Homeschooled do 20% - 30% better (on average) than Public Schooled.

the schools will have free reign on taxpayer dollars

Defund the Public schools. If more parents home-schooled, more parents could pressure legislatures,

"Why should we pay for public schools? Our kids don't go there and they are cesspool of propaganda, turning out stupid children."

You said "punish," not me.

To you, these cops are heros. If you are right, they'll hold a parade for them. People will come visit them with cakes and gifts.

But if you are wrong...

So tell me, why is it "idiotic?"

Maybe you can tell us all what purpose is served by revealing names and addresses of Law Enforcement officers who are merely 1) doing their duty and 2) upholding the law?

Ever occur to you that there may be some crackheads out there who'd like to know Officer Friendly's home address? Where his wife and kids live?

Please, enlighten me. Why do you want to publicize private info on officers who merely carried out a simple trespassing arrest?

Oh yeah, Lexington, Massachusetts is a real hotbed of crime, with Major Drug Kingpins wanting to assasinate deep undercover heros.

The police in that town have no excuse for not being fully exposed to public criticism.

They are in zero danger. Except to their careers, for being too bonheaded to question a public skool bureaucrats word.

Besides, they are your heros. Don't you want to know what address to send flowers to?

This is how they claim immunity from the parental notification law.

I don't buy their claim that "it's not about sex." Yes it is. And it does not belong in kindergarten.

Yes they should be exposed to criticism. When they do something wrong which is not the case here. The guy was asked to leave the property. He refused. The police tried for two hours to talk him into leaving. He preferred to be arrested to make his point publicly. So what's your beef with the cops? He was asking to be arrested. He got arrested.

Parents take note! A parent ordered "not" to set foot on school property. Only the beginning of what's wrong with this picture.

This is very "lenin".

Remember the Globe was the propaganda pointman for the homosexual marriage advocates.

"Homosexuals" are explicit sexual material that the schools are REQUIRED to allow children to be excluded.

Homosexuality is not about "diversity", homosexuality is about a man sticking his penis inside the anus of another man. This is not a subject for KINDERGARDNERS.

The Boston Globe or anyone from the Boston Globe needs a financial wake up call.

How about writing FNC saying we do not want ANYONE from the BG on their round tables?

How about going after their advertisers? We need to make any advertiser that supports teaching homosexuality to CHILDREN pay a financial price.

newsflash, this was not a protest. In certain circumstances like this the police DO have the power to simply say this is a civil matter.

The man had an appointment.

I hope this father sues this school and sues the principle PERSONALLY.

Homeschooling is not an option for everyone. Simply saying they have the option is about as usuless as trying to find a cell phone company that does not have lopesided agreements.

The principle has an EXPLICIT legal requirement to allow mothers and fathers to opt out their children from sexual material. ALL homosexuality is a sexual material.

You're absolutely right. But those are their talking points, and they're sticking to the script.

Talk radio in Boston is doing this again today, with the father on WRKO. One good part, though, was earlier, when they had the school superintendent on (and asked about the recent "day of silence," which was observed by the Lexington Schools). He was claiming he's not really the superintendent because he retired in 2003 and he's just an interim "acting" superintendent, so he can't be expected to know what's going on or to do anything about it.

The WORD homosexual is SEXUAL.

The homosexuals are pissing on our feet and telling us it is rain.

It seems any lawsuit is going to be putting homosexuality on trial as a sexual subject.

This is about the BS red hering that LOOOooooooove is somehow involved. The law does not care about love.
