"Even with NDP support, the Liberal government's survival is uncertain.
The Liberals would need all their 131 votes, the NDP's 19, and possibly those of all three independents, allowing the Liberal Speaker to cast the deciding ballot to bring the tally to 154."
The margin for error in that calculation is zero.
Plus nobody has a clue what tricks Duceppe will pull.
May 4 is going to be very interesting indeed.

The Canadian "Conservatives" are kinda like US Democrats not like US Conservatives.
For example, the Canuck Conservative party platform explicitly supports socialized medicine!

What a bunch of whores the NDP are for this. They hopefully will be punished by the voters. It IS time to take the Liberals down for what to me is the most important reason. To stop the National Daycare Program. For one, I resent my tax money being used to baby sit some one elses kids. My wife is a stay at home mom, but apparently she is not a productive member of society, so she will get squat from the government. Had she decided to abandon her children to strangers then she would be eligible to suck of the taxpayer teats. Secondly the program seeks to create government run daycares with union workers. Excuse me. Private daycare can come under regulatory scrutiny from government agencies. But who will scrutinize the government? We all know how well they regulate themselves. We will end up with a 100 billion dollar daycare program when its all said and done.

I was up in Vancouver on Saturday. Saw a suprisingly large number of NPD buttons on walkers in Stanley Park, as well as signs in both English and Chinese for NPD candidates.

To be fair in some ways Canadian Conservatives are far more conservative than Republicans. On fiscal issues, the CP believes in NO corporate welfare ZERO, nadda.
Yes, they have not challenged Universal Healthcare. But you have to understand that Canadians are married to this system. They are the only nation which has not introduced serious reform such as user fees, or partial pay. If Harper ran on reforming healthcare he would end up with 10% of the popular vote. Canadians are mindless sheep when it come to healthcare. We want to maintain the status quo even though it is unsustainable. We somehow think there is some phantom tax base that can be taxed to keep the system afloat. That tax base leave Canada for more tax friendly harbours every year.

You were probably seeing buttons for the provincial NDP. There is a provincial election on. BCers tend to vote NDP provincially but not so much so federally. I don't really know why?

Amazing. So the Chinese hate communism enough to escape it, then do what they can to shove the closest thing to it down our throats by supporting the NDP. Go figure.

Yes, I agree. I believe it's a case of getting rid of the liberals first. Then, we can look at other issues like healthcare.
