This is a vanity to discuss Rush, his CI and Cochlear Implants.
To: wallcrawlr
Rush and my daughter share something he doesnt know about. They were both implanted within the same week.
Difference is my daughter was 12 months old.
Her implant failed as well...which is what is happening with Rush. She had to get explanted and reimplanted.

Sorry to hear that. I did notice lately he seemed to be having problems hearing people.

One positive out of this bad news is that when Rush can't hear, he frequents FR more often!
To: Spunky
Rush's hearing loss is his own fault - it's a common side effect of prolonged use of high-dose opiates like Oxycontin and Percoset.
Nobody should be happy about his problems, but they are 100% his own damn fault.
That said, cochlear implant technology seems to be pretty neat stuff.
To: wallcrawlr
I just turned him on. Did he say if he's scheduled for new surgery?

Of course they are. But let's give the guy credit for going into rehab and helping himself.

Geesh. You don't think the world knows that by now?
My brother jumped off a fence and broke his foot. Was I supposed to remind him that it was his fault for the last 50 years?

Who ever said it wasn't his fault?
Inhale big boy.. Relax there a bit.
BTW.. Have you ever been prescribed Oxycontin, Percoset or Vicodin? If you haven't, then zip your lip.
To: taipanenigma
Gee, Spunky, where did you acquire your medical degree?
Maybe all of those people who have experienced similar problems to Rush's but never even heard of "Oxycontin" should call you for evaluations. Perhaps you could even do your diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plan online saving thousands of dollars spent with other "specialists."

You have no way of knowing what caused Rush to go deaf. For all we know he could have been intentionally infected by a CIA virus during the Clinton years. But to say that his alleged drug use had anything to do with his hearing loss is completely ludicrous.
To: 1Old Pro
I must have missed the release of the doctor's reports definitively citing the cause of the hearing loss. You must have also missed the federal law that prohibits the doctor from releasing medical information concerning Rush without Rush's consent.
To: taipanenigma
Rush's hearing loss is his own fault Moot point. First off, I have never heard him seeking any sympathy for this, and second, it's really nobody's business but HIS as to how this happened (I don't recall that his drug use has been identified as the definite cause of his hearing loss).
