Breathtaking Hubble pic: Eagle Nebula (slip the surly bonds of earth & touch the face of God)
NASA photo via Yahoo ^ | 4/26/05

Posted on 04/26/2005 10:52:37 AM PDT by Wolfstar

A new view of the Eagle Nebula, one of the two largest and sharpest images Hubble Space Telescope has ever taken, is released by NASA for Hubble's 15th anniversary April 25, 2005. The new Eagle Nebula image reveals a tall, dense tower of gas being sculpted by ultraviolet light from a group of massive, hot stars. During the 15 years Hubble has orbited the Earth, it has taken more than 700,000 photos of the cosmos.

You would know the composite NASA photograph entitled "Earth at Night." I have a column planned for maybe a month from now which is based on that photograph. It shows a Mercator map of the world, done solely in the lights from cities at night.

Do you know a version of that which is not a bandwidth hog, or a greedy hard disk creature? I hope so, since I need that to send out with my column.

Latest column, "Double Crossing at the Rio Grande II."

Math whiz. Electrical engineer actually.

Oh...sorry. We will speak slower and use smaller words then. (just kidding, just a little inter-discipline ribbing!)

I had that image (it was on FR about 5 years ago) on my old computer as a wallpaper. It was beautiful! I'll try to find it for you...

So we are looking at the Eagle Nebula circa 4500 BC huh? The Hubble telescope is a time machine.

So this is a photo of what Eagle nebula looked like 6,500 years ago! God's universe is certainly amazing!
