A new view of the Eagle Nebula, one of the two largest and sharpest images Hubble Space Telescope has ever taken, is released by NASA for Hubble's 15th anniversary April 25, 2005. The new Eagle Nebula image reveals a tall, dense tower of gas being sculpted by ultraviolet light from a group of massive, hot stars. During the 15 years Hubble has orbited the Earth, it has taken more than 700,000 photos of the cosmos.

A new view of the Whirlpool Galaxy showcases the spiral galaxy's curving arms where newborn stars reside and its yellowish central core that serves as home for older stars.
The eternal magnificence and wonder of our universe makes our earthy cares seem exceedingly small by comparison.

During the 15 years Hubble has orbited the Earth, it has taken more than 700,000 photos of the cosmos. I wonder how many CDs or DVDs that would take to duplicate?

I wonder what it would be like to live on a planet near such a breathtaking nebula.

"Tall dense tower of gas...". Wow. A remarkable and beautiful picture! Thanks for posting it. Come to think of it, the description in quotes reminds me of Harry Reid, though!

The Whirlpool is one of my favorites. Nicely defined spiral structure with the one arm trailing off and seeming to embrace its satellite. The Lord sure makes some beautiful galaxies...

What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him? One of my favorites. Makes one feel very small, and very special, doesn't it?

If you take the upper right hand corner of the picture and invert it, you see the eye of God. Seriously...almost spooky.

Thank you, thank you, Wolfstar. What wonders are out there! I really needed to see these reminders of God's creation today. I feel better and lighter than I did five minutes ago.

If each picture was a MB in size, and each 700mb CD could have 700 photographs so 1000 CD's or a 4.7gb DVD would hold about 6800 photos or about 150 DVD's.
