In possible 2006 Senate match-ups, Democrat Bill Nelson led Katherine Harris 48 to 41 percent. However, Nelson trails Charlie Crist 46 to 45 percent and Tom Gallagher 46 to 44 percent.
This IS great news. He's one of our senators and for every issue I've mailed him a letter he has a nondescript answer. You'd think he has no opinion. I know he just doesn't want to give it out to get the angry mail in response.
And remember this is a time when the GOP is supposed to be so unpopular in America, especially in Florida.
We will do very well in 2006.
It's within the margin of error, and the Democrats haven't started demonizing the GOP over Social Security yet.
Well the AARP sure has. That ad with the entire house and its contents destroyed over a minor problem probably is effective with some. Many still believe the AARP is non-partisan!
Not a good sign for an incumb Dem in his most dangerous campaign, his first re-election.
Crist and Gallagher are fairly well known and if you don't think the GOP has taken all its hits on Social Security you are quite wrong.
The GOP has been demonized in the past month like crazy by the media over social security, terri shiavo, judges, and tom delay.
And Nelson is still down.
Sure its within the margin of error, but can't be good for Nelson.
FYI........PING
The way Florida has been trending, any Democrat should be in trouble. The fact that he is down early may be a good sign, but there is a long way to go.
With numbers this poor perhaps Bill should consider following Dayton and Jeffords into retirement.
I thought Crist was running for governor.
Why settle for a half-Nelson? Nebraska has a Democrat Senator Nelson who's also cruising for a take-down in 2006.
Great news! It's official that Bill Nelson is vulnerable in his Senate race next year! We need more seats and here's a good shot.
sounds good but i love the people here
casey ahead of santorum by 14 points the battle cry is "too early for polls - means nothing"
when it is a point or two ahead for our team it is great news.
make up your minds ;)
Gallagher will have huge gains when he brings out the Sledge-O-Matic
I think diff. dynamics between this race and Santorum's (and I do believe Santorum will pull through).
I don't say that Nelson will lose, but just that this is now a competitive race.
While I'm all for criticizing Nelson on many things, don't blame the poor staffer who crafted a nondescript letter. That's what they're paid to do.
This is true. However, incumbents always do better in early polls like this than they do in general elections when the challenger is credible. I'm thinking this is a very positive sign in Florida!
She needs to take herself out of the race now so a good candidate can get in.
