Nancy Soderberg will still not give credit to the President. The Clintonistas are beyond dangerous for this nation.

Sadly only for a couple of weeks and then back to Baghdad where the food is not nearly so good.

Very pleased to see that elections will now go ahead on May 29. Lebanese I've talked to today also delighted to have just pipped Iraq in formalising a transitional government. The race was really on...

I think there is general optimism here, with fingers being crossed until the elections.

Do you think Hizbollah is going to be disarmed?

Do you think Hizbollah is going to be disarmed? Absolutely, one way or another and before the end of the year.

As you know Hizballah is a terrorist organization that will not be allowed to bear arms in the New Middle East.

Interesting. What makes you so sure?

The current government has ruled it out. With U.S. pressure I'm sure that the administration that takes charge after the election is likely to be less rigid -- but surely it is going to be very tricky. Do you risk enflaming Shia anger in the south at a very promising but precarious time?

I wonder if forcing disarmament by the end of the year, might be rushing things. What do you reckon?

The pressure will be great on Hizballah to disarm. The whole process in the Middle East is moving quickly and in the right direction. There is absolutely zero excuse for Hizballh to have weapons. I tend to think that they give up their arms voluntarily and peacfuly.
