One of the major problems they seem to have is is their constant insulting of everyone who does not think as they do. You simply do not convince someone to come to your side or to even listen to you when a large portion of your airtime is simply continuously ridiculing them as red-neck simpletons. As they get more and more fanatic, they alienate more and more of their possible listener base.

That part about Bush in a cell with a big black man was something that Al Franken actually said. Just imagine the outrage that would apply to Rush if he ever said something like that in his 16+ years on the radio, though he never would because he doesn't think that way. Al coughed up that gem after being on the air for 1 week.

Th only time I've ever laughed at any of his humor was the part he played years ago as the mentally retarded baggage handler in the movie "Trading Places".

However, now that I know who Al Franken is from his radio show I realize that he was just playing himself.

Republican politicians are notoriously weak kneed. We may need another election cycle or two before we get real change.

You know, being Jewish, and it being Passover and all, your statement really brings something home... Passover is the story of the release of the Israelites from bondage, and their trek towards freedom. But that trek took them 40 years. Many believe that the Israelites were forced to wander the desert for 40 years because of their worship of the goldent calf at Mt Sinai. But there is another reason as well. It is said that the reason they had to wander for 40 years was because a new generation needed to be born and raised that could cope with freedom. In short, they had to wait until those with the old slave mentality died off.

Just like it seems that many republicans can't quite get the idea that they're now the majority party.

Absolutely. Must always bear this in mind. George W. Bush is taking a lot of heat lately, and I'm not crazy about his perceived inaction on the immigration issue, but he has the toughest job in the world - leading the free world to what he hopes (and we all hope) will be toward a global renaissance. He deserves praise for the giant steps he has already taken.
