I'm a 7th generation Floridian and a retired teacher and I don't know what is going on here! I did see the video and thought the teacher and the police handled it as best as they could. What else could they do to prevent her from hurting herself or others?
I saw where the mother has hired a lawyer.........she should be punishing the child for her misbehavior!!

It is a shame to live in Florida as the police have gone out of their minds. Yeah...the police need to get get a life. Perhaps they'll get one after an uncuffed out-of-control 5 year old drives a pencil into the eye of an officer. Or a pair of scissors into a thigh.

Here in Minnesota it's not so much of a problem.
Dad or mommy's boyfriend kills the child before they can even make it to kindergarten.
There's been about four baby murders in the last several weeks.

"It's incomprehensible ... There was no need for that." Maybe not, but perhaps the mother ought to ask herself how she managed to raise such a brat. Taming a child throwing a temper tantrum is like trying to catch a cat. You can't pick a kid up by her scruff, so what are you going to do? Maybe a straight jacket would have been better. Or sneak up behind her, wrap a blanket around her and hold her tight. Handcuffs may have been extreme, but the essential idea was correct.
