Decisions and consequences were made and issued regarding the bake sale held March 21 by the College Republicans at Grand Valley State University.
On April 13 the Student Organization Review Board issued a written decision to the College Republicans, finding them in violation of the student code concerning discrimination, caused by their bake sale which sold cupcakes to varying races and genders at different prices. The organization has been put on a probation period, which will last until Dec. 1.
[The Republicans] just need to come up with a leadership development plan and review the rules for the future, Burke said.
SORB requested that the Republicans make a public apology.
The groups former president, sophomore Kyle Rausch, said he felt it was better to stand on principle and resign than attach his name to an apology letter.
I am not aware of the groups plans, Rausch said. I no longer consider myself part of an organization which is so willing to apologize for their opinions.

Maybe somewhere there are some Republicans with some guts who can take this "Free Speech" issue and run with it, pointing out not only the similarity to "affirmative action" that the bake sale was, but also the hypocritical repression that the entrenched politically correct bastards will unleash when their fascism is so publicly illuminated.
I think you said that in jest. I also know for certain that we need guys like Kyle on our side. i wish him well.
I think the Alumni could send a very clear message. Simply state that with decisions such as this, the school should cease and desist all further contact for the solicitation of funds.
Will it change things? No, but if the college has a revenue stream cut off; a message certainly is going to get received.
Obvious waste of irony on the efeet (Grand Valley State preferred spelling) liberals. Discrimination....LOL.
Perhaps impose might be the wrong word since the GVSU CR's and their advisor, Paul Leidig, who is also chair of the Ottawa County GOP, seem more than willing to take their trip through the "tunnel of hate."
This from a state where the flagship university was giving minority applicants 20 extra points on the admissions scale solely for the color of their skin?
Grand Valley doesnt use affirmative action. If you have a High School degree.............you're in!!!!
I bet the bake sale was popular with the Stoners. In the grips of a bad case of the munchies the Potheads could get treats for free by claiming to be Native-American-Indian-American like Ward Churchill.
Do you think they had those crumbly date bars? I love those things...
Yeah- like a whole Senate full of 'em.
Perhaps not for undergraduates but I would be willing to bet a tidy sum that Grand Valley has racial preferences for faculty and administrators....hence the bake sale is right on target.
