WAHSATCH - Searchers in Summit County on Wednesday found more body parts matching those discovered earlier near the Wyoming border.
But Summit County sheriff's Chief Deputy Dave Booth said detectives have yet to find the head formerly attached to the body strewn along a frontage road.
"It's the head we're really interested in right now," he said.
Booth said the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office determined body parts found Monday and Tuesday belong to an adult male, who was 6 feet tall with dark hair, but the office didn't have any more information about the person's identity.
The mystery began Monday when a Union Pacific Railroad employee checking on some tracks near the interstate found what appeared to be a body part. Investigators confirmed it was a human hand and began searching the area.
A headless, limbless torso, other body parts and pieces of clothing were found Tuesday. Booth said all the body parts appear to have been sawed off. All the bones have been discovered with some skin on them.
On foot and all-terrain vehicles, orange-clad deputies from the Summit County Sheriff's Office searched through snow-covered sagebrush Wednesday. They were assisted by searchers from the Utah Highway Patrol, the U.S. Forest Service and Duchesne County Sheriff's Office, which provided two cadaver dogs and handlers.
The search was focused on a frontage road along Interstate 80's westbound lanes, about one mile from the Wyoming line.
Booth said authorities have closed a 7-mile stretch of the frontage road, including the 5-mile stretch separating the locations where the hand and torso were found.
"It appears they've been just randomly thrown out there," Booth said. "There appears to have been no attempt to bury them."
The only body parts found intact were two hands, Booth said.
Booth said about 20 to 25 officers participated in Wednesday's search, and the sheriff's office plans to continue searching through Saturday.

Sounds like somebody pissed off their meth dealer.
"Parts is parts"..
I hate it when people just fall apart like that
It happens. He just lost his head.
"In Utah it's pretty bad around these parts."
ROFL
"Talk to the hand."
Well, he should just pull himself together
Those are some pretty sick puns...I want no part in this
Aw, C'mon now. If this story teaches us anything it's that we all need to stick together.
Looks like they're having a hard time getting ahead.
Yep, and it cost them an arm and a leg ... and an arm and a leg. Also his head.
Dinner is smelling really good just about now.
"Those are some pretty sick puns...I want no part in this"
Awww... we're jest pullin' yer leg!
No need to go to pieces! ;->
In a crisis situation the worst thing you can do is loose your head
Some people get left in stitches. Then they feel really sew-sew.
If it's a democrat, they will find the head when they find the anus.
I am almost afraid to ask, double barreled "chested" girls??
Or the other way, double barreled......
I'm glad to see at least one peicemaker around here willing to go out on a limb.
