In 1949, Science magazine explained to readers that animals (including mice, oxen and rhesus monkeys) were needed in every phase of polio research. Polio researcher and Nobel laureate Frederick Robbins later wrote that "all we learned about the disease came from studies with animals." And Albert Sabin, the biomedical research veteran who developed the oral polio vaccine, wrote in 1992 that animal experiments "were necessary to solve many problems before an oral polio-virus vaccine could become a reality."

Mainstream medical professionals understand that today's animal-research models are crucial to finding tomorrow's cures. The American Foundation for AIDS Research funds these tests. Political correctness seems immune to the power of logic. Therefore, it seems to me that the only way to kill political correctness is to pit one politically correct entity or cause against another conflicting PC entity or cause. Since AIDS, breast cancer, etc., are politically correct diseases and PETA’s cause is also politically correct, we ought to be able to strike a blow for freedom with issues like this. All we have to do is urge the various conflicting groups to fight each other and then stand back. Eventually, everyone that hasn’t already seen how stupid political correctness truly is, will eventually figure it out from the illogical clashes.

Have polio vaccines ever been contaminated with other viruses?

Yes. Some of the first Salk polio vaccines and Sabin polio vaccines were contaminated with SV-40, a virus found in some species of monkey. SV-40 is not related to HIV. Studies have shown no increased rates of disease among persons who received that vaccine. Modern vaccines do not contain SV-40. The Sabin vaccine seed strains, which are used to make modern OPV, have been repeatedly tested using very sensitive assays and shown to be free of any virus contamination.

The polio vaccine saved millions from permanant disability and thousands from death. I think you "know" far less then you think.
