THE BOLTON “SCANDAL” [Rich Lowry] The head of the firm, IBTCI, that was involved in the Moscow incident, when Bolton allegedly chased and threw things at Melody Townsel, has written a letter to the foreign relations committee about the controversy. We’ve posted the whole thing (it’s roughly written), so you can judge for yourself.
Here is a key passage: To the best of my knowledge, Ms. Townsel had limited contact with Mr. Bolton, who at the time she claims was hostile to her, was working on another project for IBTCI in Moscow (Healthy Russia 2000). Ms. Townsel's recollection of what transpired, ten years later, is impossible to square with the fact Mr. Bolton was not engaged by our firm to have any contact with her on any issue related to her activities in Kyrgyzstan. In fact, later Mr. Bolton became our legal counsel to represent our interests before the U.S. Government in response to Ms. Townsel's efforts to try to grab our contract. Her claims against Mr. Bolton make no sense but are consistent with her belligerent attitudes towards others.
In fact, Ms. Townsel's professional performance is central to understanding her behavior and her extreme hostility to anyone associated with our company. As a Team Leader, she attempted unsuccessfully to charge the U.S. government for disallowable costs. She became enraged and abusive when our Business Manager, Auditor, and Executive Vice President each questioned these activities/costs, The situation was so serious that we had to post an expatriate from Head Office to our project office in Kyrgyzstan to ensure that proper accounts were maintained as we bad lost confidence in her business and billing practices.
Her poor performance, treatment of other employees and attempt to take over our contract became issues; and thus I was required to step in and remove her from her position. Mr. Bolton's role with IBTCI was unrelated. to her activities at the time. At no time did we ask, or seek Mr. Bolton's intervention with her. I certainly did .not hear, contemporaneously; from any other employee in Moscow that anything occurred between Mr. Bolton and Ms Townsel in Moscow, Consequently, it is difficult to understand how Ms. Townsel could make such accusations with any veracity.
For the majority here on FReep that wish Frist would pull the nuclear trigger....please keep that in mind, because the Rats WILL be in power again one of these days.

Right! Their orchestrated scenario nearly got blown when Lugar looked like he was going to actually call for the vote. They didn't care if they sounded like raving maniacs, which Biden certainly did, just so they could delay until the already set up fix could be brought off. What did Voinovich get? Whatever it is, I hope he chokes on it.
Today Rush and a listener said that if Reagan were in the same situtation he would be king. I mean, here we are 5 months after getting elected, they seem to be jerking around. I hope someone at the RNC sent a memo saying "You have until November of 2005 to jerk around, so get it out of your system" because they are acting like losers, adrift, scared, and listless.

1. He fell for the innuendo and charts
2. To explain his position he explained he hadn't attended earlier meetings.
What's most interesting to me is that the Dems have an *ideological* problem with Bolton, yet they pretend to be concerned about his personality. Their public argument against him is totally dishonest.
I do find a little pleasure, though, in the fact that they apparently don't feel like they can go public with their ideological case against him. It's like Rush says -- the Dims can't be who they really are or they'll lose.
That's for sure. When the Republicans are in the majority in both House and Senate, for them NOT be able to get a vote OUT of committee is just nauseating.

Exactly why we need to get our guys into the SCOTUS now!!! No telling when we will have another opportunity. Are you suggesting that if we exercise restraint now, then the Dems will too when it's their turn because they are good guys?
Let me get this straight ... Bolton wasn't even working for the firm at the time of Ms. Townsel's claim ?????
This letter should totally discredit Bolton's critics and all the Ds who jumped on this bandwagon. It's unfortunately that the letter is poorly written, evidently by somone with a very marginal grasp of the English language.... but there is enough info here to indicate that the woman attacking Bolton is a vicious, unbalance twit who was FIRED by the company for bad financial practices.
The Rs should come out swinging on this, but will they???

I can not rule out that Voinvich has skeletons in his closet. I can not rule out that he is corrupt.
More likely vain. The best way for a Senator to stand out from the pack and to get extra attention is to do something that hurts his own party. There are exceptions, but I think ego plays a huge role in a lot of the moves RINOs make.

I doubt it. The pubbies simply do not have the killer instinct that the Democrats seem to get with their mother's milk. This delay will allow weeks of additional leaks, slanders and partisan reporting by the MSM. It is just what they wanted. The woman's background and the company letter will never be widely reported. It is up to us to dig out the facts and report them and it is up to us to punish Voinovich however we can.
IIRC the Democrats would even hold committee meetings and not even tell the Republicans members of the committee until after the meeting was over. When they are in charge they run rough shod over the Republicans. When the Republicans are in charge, the Democrats beg them to just be fair. Stupidly, the Republicans are always more than fair.
