Gee, maybe the liberal 'CINO's', should break away and form their OWN brand of Catholic church...and elect their OWN flavor of a pope.

"LIberal Catholics" -- I always chuckle when I read that term. Those folks need to get a clue; either you believe what the Church teaches, or you don't. If you don't, then please take care not to let the door hit you on your way out.

Here's my take - liberal Boomers who grew up Catholic now are getting their AARP memberships, and have one foot in the grave.

They haven't been Catholic for decades, but are starting to panic, because they want a priest to say the old words over them at their funerals.

Being liberal Boomers, however, they HAVE to do it on their own terms.

Bummer of a day for them, then - I guess that they'll all have have their ashes shot out of a cannon, like Hunter S. Thompson.

Catholics for a Free Choice, a progressive group...

Reuters is so hilariously biased. "Progressive" is such a nice, non-threatening, moderate word. Compared to Catholic doctrine as I understand it, they would be better described as a "radically leftist Catholic group."

Apparently there are people, a lot of people of all Christian denominations, that believe what is defined as right and wrong by God can be directed by man. It is good too see a firm stand on the side of God's laws.

I was interested in knowing precisely what the group Catholics for a Free Choice had arrogantly set out for Pope Benedict XVI, and found it on their web site. It would be a travesty for the Vatican to follow the whims of man when God has already offered the answers. Here's a link to the CFFC demands: http://www.catholicsforchoice.org/new/pressrelease/041905first100days.htm

Just had an IM exchange with my 30 y/o daughter (husband and 2 daughters of her own) and found her very resistant to the "liberal" intrusions.

Never heard of most of these groups, what are they? A wacko with a newsletter and a telephone?

How much of a MINORITY are these people? As far as the homosexuals are concerned they have to be a tiny minority of and even tinier minority.

We all know the MSM would be parading the "dispointment". The MSM totally telegraphed the stories for the next few days when they did that ABSURD poll.

Aww, are the poor babies offended?

What is this "progressive" Catholics business by the way? Much of what these "progressives" want to introduce into the Catholic Church is nothing short of barbarism. Going back to the days of barbarism is not "progress" in my book.

I've met these folks in my time, and they still haven't told me why it is that none of this Priest abuse business happened until we started listening to "progressive" theologians. All they do is get all mad and say you want to bring back the Inquisition.

Kudos to the Cardinals for standing up for our faith and putting in Benedict XVI. Stand firm, and walk tall.

It's our Church, and they can cry if they want to.

We'll see how "discouraged" The Abortion Party is when they're excommunicated.

And this Pope will do it.

Ratzinger is a polarizing figure to many, who seems to prefer combativeness to compromise and compassion," Mary Grant of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests said in a statement.

I'm running out of sympathy for these people.

In retrospect, they remind me of the Tailhook "scandal". In the end it was not about women being groped by drunk aviators and all about an agenda to get women in the military. SNAP appears to have its own agenda.

Not to "Liberal 'Catholics'":

1) No one cares what you think---you are irrelevant. THe Pontiff gives you instruction in Dogma and Doctrine--not vice versa.

2) If you do not like the new Holy Father or his policies, I suggest that you go to your local Diocese and renounce your Catholic Faith--something you have already done in deeds, if not in words.

3) BUGGER OFF!

"This says to me that the Vatican ... is not prepared to move into the 21st Century, which it desperately needs to do," said Durso, who was raised Catholic but no longer practices.

At the risk of repeating myself from one thread to another, I'll say it one last time. The pope's responsibility is to conserve the deposit of faith entrusted the the Catholic Church by our Lord, Jesus Christ and His Apostles.

Those catholics (in name only) who do not agree with the teachings of the church are free to leave and join any of the 30,000+ other christian churches that embrace those teachings they personally espouse. Even under the worst popes, NEVER has a pope erred on doctrine! The Church is a barque carrying the truths of our faith. (read my tagline)

softening its policy on homosexuality, birth control, euthanasia and abortion

I actually have no words for this. Have these 'catholics' read the bible? And I'm not even Catholic. I'm just speechless, and that doesn't happen often.
