Nun silenced by new pope unhappy with choice

HYATTSVILLE, Md. - A nun who was ordered by Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger to stop ministering to gays and lesbians called his election as pope "devastating" for those who believe the Catholic Church needs to be more tolerant on social issues such as homosexuality. advertisement Sister Jeannine Gramick said the choice of Ratzinger, who as the Vatican's guardian of doctrine silenced her and Father Robert Nugent in a 1999 order, will likely prevent the church from "moving into the 21st century and out of the Middle Ages." "Benedict(8 letters) 16(4x4) John 8:44

44. Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

Among others! This one is weird. Check around the net and you'll see what I mean.

The Pope was a king and military ruler up until the 1800s.

That part I miss...

I'm so delighted to be sent back to the nineteenth century, aren't you? I am doubled over with laughter rereading her words of dismay.

I can't remember being this happy about The Church, since the night I was baptised and confirmed into it.

'Tis a cause for celebration!

Technically, it wasn't "they." Rather, by faith, it was the Holy Spirit that made the choice. The Holy Spirit had a reason, and that was enough for them.

A poofter is defined by his deviant sexual practices. If he repents, and abandons those deviant sexual practices, is he still a poofter?

I say he is not.

Rule One: No Poofters!

By the time JPII died, he'd appointed all but something like three of the cardinals in the entire world.

The current pope was one of the three cardinals nominated BEFORE JPII became pope. I wonder what part that fact may have played in Benedict XVI's selection.

I am sure the old fart will continue to sit back like PJP and say nothing while hundreds of his gay priests molest little boys, yet speak out against reaching out to those who perhaps need it the most. What a terrible decision the Catholic Church has made today.

"Benedict(8 letters) 16(4x4) John 8:44"

That sounds like the numerology/Million Man math that Farrakhan used to do.

Re: "She could start her own religion."

There is already the Episcopagan. They have already started a gay outreach. I think Vicky Gene Robinson heads it up. Or she could go Lesbiaterian.

There was a political movement to require a vow of celibacy? When'd that happen?

The only major changes that spring to mind are in the 15-1600s with the Counter-Reformation. And that was to correct problems within the Church, not due to pressure from without.

Pope didn't have an army, so I dunno how he could be a military ruler, nor did he pass secular laws, thus not a King. If he had his own army, why did he have to appeal to the princes and kings to help in the Crusades?
