OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..
LOL
What we don't know yet is Voinovich's real motives. It just doesn't make sense to me that Voinovich would embarass Lugar and the Party over the UN Ambassadorship. I suspect that this might be a not-very-subtle message from the wobbly Republicans to the President and Majority Leader that the "nucular option" won't be supported. Or perhaps Georgie V. is looking for some handout for Cleveland.
Probably had to go to ER to have his lips removed from Hillary's butt.
The Senate just voted overwhelmingly cloture on the Mikulski immigration amendment---
So now they are actually voting on the Mikulski Amendment that gives "priviledges" to seasonal illegal immigrants for Northeastern restaurants---
The note at the bottom of the screen just said that if THIS amendment passes then it opens up the Senate emergency bill for all other immigration amendments---Whoopee!! more bad news every minute
They just read some yeas and nays and Mikulski amendment WILL PASS!!!!
I think we would be better off if we let the Democrats close down the Senate!!!!! Nothing is going the GOP way anyway!!!
You would think that with the Democrats making total fools of themselves, no Republican would want to follow in their footsteps. Except we have our own crew of nitwits, like Senator Voinovich.
As Rush pointed out this morning, if these Senators don't have any problem with the abusive behavior of Democrats who drive off bridges and letting their staffers drown, why would a little yelling bother them?
What a sorry display the Senate put on today. Let's hope they can redeem themselves shortly.
Yup. Very painful day. Lugar kept trying to call for a vote, and Biden-Boxrocks-Kerry carried out a well planned filibuster. I wanted to bring that gavel down on Biden's knuckles...I might have done it :)
The current US Senate Republicans need a leader in foreign policy and UN issues, since they seem to be lost in space.
Pathetic.
I doubt that, considering most of these same Senators will be looking to the W.H. to campaign on their behalf. They still need him.
perhaps they think they can blow them off in the interim than play nice as their elections near, but if so they'll be swiftly abused when the electorate remembers.
Agreed.
1) Announce that he's pulling Bolton's name, and will not name a replacement.
2) Appoint Bolton to a staff position that does not require confirmation.
3) Send Bolton to the U.N. as Acting Ambassador.
4) When Congress next goes on recess, appoint Bolton Ambassador.
Not a damn thing the Dems or RINO's can do about that, and Bolton still will be able to say what needs to be said. Plus, the fact that we don't have a full Ambassador at the U.N. will aggravate them on a daily basis. Heh-heh.
"nothing is going the GOP way"
And what way would that be? Bolton's non-confirmation at the hands of the GOP prove otherwise.
I am positive; I'm positive that the GOP will never, ever do anything right.
This would be my beloved President who let Teddy write his own education plan after the fat bastard spat all over him? And who now has embraced Wet Willie?
President Bush, and I say beloved without a shred of sarcasm, just doesn't punish anyone apparently, no matter what kind of slimeball they are. I expect the RINOs will continue on their merry way, until their prospective voters end their careers.
Hope you're listening, Senator Warner.
I have been thinking the same thing about keeping a list--we need a permanent site on FR that will keep a list of the Republicans that vote against important Bush or conservative legislation, complete with address and phone # and any ratings that the groups that grade senators keep.
WE have to know who to target in 2006 and 2008!!!
He's the chairman!
http://ethics.senate.gov/
Republicans
George V. Voinovich, Ohio, Chairman
Pat Roberts, Kansas
Craig Thomas, Wyoming
Democrats
Tim Johnson, South Dakota, Vice Chairman
Daniel Akaka, Hawaii
Mark Pryor, Arkansas
I'm already feelign better..IMHO the Dems will screw this up..overplay their hand, like they did with Wellstone Memorial..
Good thinking, and go look at your fish for something really upbeat and positive. I look at my Grapefruit tree that was barren for 5 years and is now kicking butt. The sun is shining, screw those dirty dems. Life is still good. We must be patient.

If I am not mistaken, Bush campaigned for Voinovich in 2004.
See how well that worked out?
