LIVE THREAD: Senate Coverage AND Senate Foreign Relations Committee vote on Bolton nomination
C-span

Posted on 04/19/2005 11:07:48 AM PDT by ken5050

OK..here's what we know..Senate is in recess for the weekly party caucus luncheons. Supposed to resume at 2:15. on C-span 2.. The Foreign Relations committee is supposed to meet at 2:45 to vote on the Bolton nomination. Lugar has refused requests for a delay. Just before the Senate recessed, Reid objected to Frist's UC request for the Froeign Relations committee to meet today. Frist withdrew his request..

YOu know what is funny? If we had kicked the RINOS out, then we would have had only 51 seats, but we would have actually had majorities on committees that would vote for us.

As it is we essentially allow the democrats to have a majority on committees because we put their republicans on the committees.

Meanwhile, the Dems set up the next fight, "we need the state department to cooperate".

This will embolden others to come out of the woodwork to curry favor with those in charge, which apparently is the democrats.

politically speaking, it is. our party doesn't know how to run a political operation - a war room, a media operations room, talking points, etc. so what do you expect? if we had the political and communications team Reagan had in there, we would be in much better shape. But we don't.

Alot of freepers laughed when Bernard Kerik went down over the nanny tax issue - plus alot of innuendo used against him: his affair with Judith Regan, his stock options, who installed a kitchen in his house, etc. But many freepers accepted that because they saw it as a way to hurt Giuliani. I warned many people this approach would be used again against a nominee that "we like" - and here it is.

So who do we put up next for UN ambassador? as we did with Homeland Security, some empty suit no name "nice guy" who will pass the confirmation process.

He CAVED big time.

No he didn't

Lugar had no choice but to delay after what Voinovich and Chafee did

Otherwise Bolton would have been blocked in committee

Dear Rush, if you are out there, and you saw what we just saw, please take the gloves off tomorrow. We need your help to make sure that the spineless fools who did this to us today are made to pay for it.

There is not enough beer in San Diego to take care of the level of pissed off I feel today, but I'm gonna try anyway. See ya all later.

"...it's just going to be delayed in order for everyone to investigate the recent allegations against Bolton."

It's going to be delayed in order to give them time to gin up a few more witnesses against Bolton. There'll be a casting call for Bolton victims.

I really don't care who is our rep to the U.N., folks.

I'm with you, man. How did this thread get over 1,200 posts? Are people really that emotionally attached to the UN ambassador?

Judges. Now that's what I care about.

Libertarians, it's said, can't win. Apparently, Republicans can't win even when they win. Is there a damn party here that can begin to reporesent us?

I feel like taking a flamethrower to that place, as Al Pacino would say.

They will get an earful from all of us starting tomorrow afternoon when Rush Limbaugh finishes blowing a gasket.

I wouldn't miss Rush tomorrow for all the tea in China!

That Mother Opposing Bush told her story on Air America, and there has been no corroboration.

In order to get dirt on Bolton there needs to be dirt on Bolton. This is the lamest and even the dems admit it "might not" (they know it's not) be true.

I still predict he will be confirmed because they (the republicans who to date have all said they would vote yes) have to base a no vote on something and so far there is nothing but this flimsy garbage.

So, yes, I am still optimistic, though extremely aggravated.

Yes. Jayna Davis is going to be on talk radio until 8pm tonight ---- 15 hours of talk radio with only an hour break. This is heating up.

If Voinivich is too damn busy to do his job than he should resign effective immediately.

he stabbed everyone in the back and this will not be forgotton. Vote him out of office. Vote Hagel out. Vote Chafee out. Get rid of them.

"Judges. Now that's what I care about."

This was a sneak preview on how judicial nominees will be turned down.

The RATS got what they wanted and in the process obviated the NUCLEAR OPTION...OH MY! At first it looked like Lugar had a master plan by letting the FREAKIN RATS speak out for hours...and at the end it was for NOTHING...I'm just about to disown the republican party right now! HOW unbearably disappointing...:(

Having been fairly involved in our contractors' travel, problems, etc., I certainly don't remember her complaining about any of this at the time. I'm trying to jog my memory and those of my former co-workers, but talk about something not smelling right. Yuck.

What you say is very interesting....many of us think the DemonicRats are making up a lot of crap that never happened!!!!

Maybe you can dig around a bit and see if these are BOLD lies!!!
