WE HAVE A POPE!!!
The last pope regarded as a "stop-gap " pope was John XXIII; he didn't live long, but he had an enormous influence.
And she's doing an excellent job!
She was!!!!
Thank the Lord that the College of Cardinals elected Ratzinger!
EWTN is showing snippets now and again of an interview they conducted with Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger a few days ago. I hope they show it in it's entirety soon at some point! A very timely interview too!
It's all about Politics and nothing else. At 78 Ratzinger can be nothing else but a caretaker Pope. Being Pope is more of mankiller job than being President and if he lasts more than 4 or 5 years it will be a miracle.
As I said it is the last gasp of the Europeans trying to hold on to power in the Church. At the next conclave the torch will be passed to someone from Africa or Asia.
Having a real life? :-)
The important question is how many divisions does the Pope have? ;^)
(from old song bantered about during OIF and OEF)
Here come the planes. They're American planes. Made in America. Smoking or non-smoking?
"Ratzinger would have been about six years old when the Nazis came to power, about twelve when WWII started, and about eighteen when it ended; for people to call him a "Nazi" because he was conscripted into the German Army for a brief period is really going too far."
Just watch for all who call our Pope "Nazi". Then you will know the enemy. The enemy though, can be ignorance.
By choosing Benedict, does that imply he is partial to the Benedictine order?
One of the best priests I've ever known was OSB
:)
I'm feeling very unsteady and not happy about this choice...and Benedict sent chills
He's such a sweetie! I can't wait to get a picture to put up over the computer, next to Pope John Paul II. I suppose EWTN will have prints on sale within a few days ...
When ya gotta go; ya gotta go!
Thank you Mother Angelica!
I'm so glad they were wrong. And I had hoped and prayed that a fitting successor to Pope John Paul could and would be chosen. In fact, Cardinals Arinze and Ratzinger were the 2 I was hoping for, since I didn't know much about Card. Schonburn (sp), he would have made 'my' list, too. Pope Benedict XVI is just truly more than I could have hoped for and I have a renewed faith in the future of the Roman Catholic Church.
I'd give her a 9, at the very least.......LOL.
