Does Free Republic and Jim Robinson ban those who disagree with them? asks The Conservative Voice.
Most all of the posters seek "Anonymity" when replying to the question raised on The Conservative Voice website: Is Free Republic Biased?
Nathan Tabor, Senior Editor and webmaster, moderates this running "Topic of the Day" and everyday discussion.
One "Anonymous" poster writes: "Re: Is Free Republic Biased? Biased? Well, since the site is dominated by paid party operatives and federal employees who allow no dissent from the Bush regime's latest political propaganda releases, you could say that it's more a solid, one way amen corner for the neoconservative cabal than a biased website."
Still another "Anonymous" poster writes:"Re: Is Free Republic Biased? They banned me for complaining about losing my career to outsourcing. They taunted and gloated with perverse kitty pictures, infantile cartoons, and guttural remarks that reveal their mentality. The flames fanned by their hatred are now licking at their heels."
ALIPAC also posts the subject: Conservative Website FREE REPUBLIC Mutinies over Bush Comments" and notes: "With reports coming in from around the nation of a split in the conservative base over the Bush amnesty and open borders plans, the nations most frequented conservative website erupted into a mutiny against Bush policies on Thursday. This article below elicited the response. Please take the time to read this article and the comments of many conservatives that are dismayed by Bush's statements about the Minuteman Project on FreeRepublic.com As many of you know, Free Republic had made previous efforts to control the debate by purging immigration reform users."
What seems to be a fledgling conservative based site, The Conservative Voice appears to seek readership through indexed forums dedicated to the Mother Bird herself, Free Republic. If you were wondering what happens to those little birds that fall or are kicked out of the FR nest (which I know you do not, but makes my play on words work); you might find some of them under the Free Republic Indexed forums over on The Conservative Voice.
That statement was false, was the intended meaning. You only need to go to the "front page" of FreeRepublic and read the lead story which has run for sometime now on the Minutemen. Also I have been part of many discussions on the Minutemen Project. I also listed a couple I had done several posts back with a few thousand views and a couple hundred replies. You only need to hit Ping at the top of your page to find how many views you have had on your story besides the actual responses.
If anything gets pulled, it would be a duplication, a FReeper posting from a site that has no value but to incite negative reaction from FReepers. Someone posting that pops in from the outside and just throws a one liner up there that could be just moved to a chat room. Plus the post on here pulled for "hate speech against minorities/defamatory bunk". If you do a Search on the Minuteman Project you will find tons of stories in relationship to.
Jim Robinson is to be admired and FR stories have been picked up by news/talk hosts for a long time. Don't forget Buckhead and the Rather memogate scenario. I was here that night as the "suspense" did build. The next day what had been discovered and researched made the news. The same goes for Bill Burkett as well. Emails were sent in mass to the news media and FoxNews, and I have found, will use info we have found and researched. Howie Carr in Boston always talked about FR on the air, as do other hosts. They do listen to FReepers and they do scan our site doing their homework. We are relevant to getting out the truth. We are relevant for exposing the biased liberal media. (you might subscribe to www.mediaresearch.org on a site best in that department often read and posted here on FR by yours truly).
Try not to take too seriously those "copycat" websites run by megalomaniacs trying to build a name for themselves with nothing more to offer of mainstream information, no research additional, and constant running attacks on FR. Jim has to keep this site up and running smoothly and therefore we should, as we frequent his site, drop a little into the kitty from time to time. Some do on a monthly basis, I contribute with other FReepers each time the fund raising comes up again. There is a lot of hard work to keeping this site moving slowly and we should not expect Jim to foot the bill. There is a budget that has to be adhered to in running FR.
Jealousy on the part of other sites that do not have the following FR has? you bet your "petutie" there is. .
Have a good day and welcome aboard

True, one does stray from the pack from time to time. ;)
Yes, we all are biased in just about everything we do in live. It is much easier to be naturally subjective over objective. However, whether we agree with someone or not, often they do raise a point that is to be considered and researched before we run off at the mouth they are a troll.
There are also many levels to a conversation. Some stay on the surface and repeat bumper sticker rhetoric from both sides of the aisle, others choose to go much deeper and do more research. On FR that is done more-so than on some of the beforehand mentioned groups.
This border problem is not all cut and dry. There are many questions such as will guardsmen(women) sign up to stand on the borders for the rest of our lives? What benefits will entice them to do so. Lets face it, no one rushes to do anything until there is a crisis/lives lost etc. Many will have families to support. Many illegals come here just to feed their families etc. What happens when they no longer are able to do so. What will Fox and his South American buddies do then? You have some pretty serious #$%@@!! happening in that part of the world while we continue to focus on the MiddleEast.
You might check the main page of FR to see how Jim has laid out the problems and the questions at hand. (Oh I forgot all MinuteMen news is stuffed into a smoky back room-bunk! hheeeehhee).
This is not a cut and dry issue. The MinuteMen have drawn attention to our border issue; and say they have approx 2,000 that will join up? Thats a lot of people to keep under control. Who will be the leaders, what are their qualifications? What are their backgrounds. Who will pay these people. Will they donate time and money of their own to guard the borders while millions of Americans go about their daily routine giving the MinuteMen not a priority status in their daily lives. Will they move their famililes to checkpoints that could change all the time. Going to stand on the Northern borders in the middle of winter in 6 feet of snow?
If anything the President and the "powers that be" need to dress this issue openly and give the positives and the negatives; so that this issue does not come across as ignored. When this issue drawing such a strong con-census from the American people and the news media is not addressed by our government and misinformation is thrown out there to squash the work the MinuteMen have done, then that really bothers me. There is more we are not being told. Could that be we do not have enough men and women to fight in the war on terror? Would that bring back a draft of some kind of community/military type service?
We now find that the security system a Conn. company had implemented on our borders and received tax payer money in payment of has failed to do the job. Again we get soaked for "crap" I want to know who got that company the "job" of building this equipment. I want to know what government offical pushed this company and its' equipment through the pipeline. We now find the airport scanners are not doing the job. That agents are testing the "security apparatus" which again we were soaked for, and getting weapons onto the planes. We find that government workers at the airport are being seen taking baggage/laptops etc. to their cars.
Our money is being wasted to the tune of billions of dollars. So now that I channel my ramblings through my sleepy mind this morning, I say more power to the MinuteMen..it is a start in the right direction!! Homeland security is just another bureaucracy that will suck us dry and it will be just the luck of the draw by some terrorist that we are attacked again.
Thanks for the reply,
F_T_D
"Homeland security is just another bureaucracy that will suck us dry and it will be just the luck of the draw by some terrorist that we are attacked again."
Although the cost of your homeland security is enormous, it does serve 'some' purpose. The AQ terrorist cells were successful because they had almost no contact through their hierarchy. Homeland security (albeit incredibly expensive) forces them to organize and plan much more to avoid. This forces more communication/contacts through their hierarchy which increases the chances for early detection.
FTD:
You are wrong on that one. All posted news about the Minuteman Project was deleted from Free Republic before April 1. A move that I fully understand and support. I think that such article are allowed here now since so many news sources are covering the Minuteman Project.
I understand that this upset Gheen, ALIPAC, and others but our President is right that this group is a bad idea. Jim Robinson was doing the right thing by getting that information off the board.
I've read Gheen's infamous article 'Not So Free Republic' several times and I find his association with the Minutemen and Team America PAC to be of great concern.
We are a nation of immigrants and there should be no room for these troublemakers among civilized people.
Yes, it is unfortunate that many good people are unaware of the detailed history of this dispute. And it gets far too detailed and complex to explain it to somebody who hasn't been through it. Heck, even I can barely keep track of who's who and I've witnessed the whole thing.
All I can do is express my opinion that Mr. Gheen was totally out of line. And perhaps the grass-roots membership at ALIPAC should select somebody more competent to represent them. Gheen's "leadership" has only served to amplify the derogatory stereotypes that illegal immigration opponents shouldn't be associated with.
I don't agree with Gheen's constant attacks on Free Republic. However, there's nothing wrong with Team America PAC nor the Minuteman Project.
We are a nation of laws and there should be no room for these lawbreaking criminal invaders and their enablers among lawabiding people.
We are a nation of borders and there should be no room for these border intruders and the quislings who aid and abet them among patriotic people.
I thought that was what you meant. How much of the childish banter and soap opera type nonsense do you believe is purposeful political distraction vs. thoughtless rambling?
Which he discredits by his close association and defense of undesirable fringe elements. Of course, the fringe doesn't want to be viewed that way. So they squawk loudly about being treated "unfairly". Tough beans. Gheen needs to display better judgement as to who he associates with.
Please explain how law-abiding citizens, acting in the same manner as a neighborhood watch group in reporting suspected illegal activity to authorities is a bad thing.
Sabertooth basically told Gheen just that on LibertyPost - which means Gheen can't just dismiss the criticism as coming from Free Republic. And Gheen blew off the advice. Which means, IMO, he's either clueless to the PR aspect of this issue or agrees with the fringe stuff he posts. Neither possibility speaks well of him as an asset to the anti-illegal immigration movement.
The third possibility is that he is a subversive with a hidden agenda of discrediting those who are honestly working to secure our borders.
I tend to lean toward towards the possibilities that involve his stupidity - I don't think he's smart enough to play your option.
Ignorance and bigotry ARE closely related.
I suppose it's possible that Steve Sailer at VDARE and the idiots at Rense genuinely don't view themselves as bigots as well. But there's no doubt that their articles are pseudo-intellectual along racial demographics, and they incompetently arrive at false and biased conclusions. There just isn't any room for that kind of inflammatory horsedung here at FR.
You post exactly the way old Nathan used to post. Hmmm.... I wonder...
I hope so.
Lets not start rumors. I have posted here for a while now so do a search on my posts. So no hmmmms..Sherlock Holmes your magnifying glass is broken. What was his sidekicks name?
Depends on the story running. Nothing wrong with having fun here either. Many have a great sense of humor. Many I am in awe of for their knowledge.
I see ZER0 soap opera nonsense. Thats why FR is successful and well known to those who are here for serious dialog and are not here "looking for a date". This site is taken respected by many in the media.
I have learned much from the FReepers here. FReepers make me think and dig a little deeper in subjects that interest me. A great public think tank of information is found on FR.
