No, this is the first time I've heard about it. This will not sit well with the Hispanic community.

In a house on Chicago’s southeast side , a Mexican family is going through a heartbreak like the tragedy that befell the American Terri Schiavo’s family

Whahhhhh. Cry me a river. That Mexican family should have been seeking their succour in their homeland...and NOT in the Americans' homeland.

well....in case any of us is worried about our impact on society and our fight for moral issues, I can tell you that although we may appear on the surface to lose some of our battles, we are really winning the hearts and minds of the good people in America. As well, as being, ourselves -- the good parts of the hearts and minds of America.

Happen to have a list of all of you and thought we should all ahve a look at this.

Immediatly I am thinking that someone should file a complaint with whatever organization it is in Chicago for abouse against disabled people. At least get some one with authority to look at this.

Next suppose we need to do some quick research on Illinois law.

Terri we have not forgotten you.

It sounds like in this case there might not be $$$ when this poor Hispanic woman finally starves to death, but MRS has $$$ awaiting him from estate "rights."

If she can drink water then this is pure starvation, as she is a vunerable person and can drink ensure. If this story checks out, and seeing as how the reporter has already done interviews it sounds legitimate, this is attempted murder and abuse.

How did you find this?

Why withholding food but not water?. I don't see their logic.

Just caught part of the Abrams' Report on cable. The topic was Judge Greer's decision to release all documents in the court battles over Terri Schiavo's care/death. Abrams was extremely sarcastic and nasty. Michael Schiavo, according to Abrams, was persecuted by evil people wanting to keep his wife alive.

Well, let's just hope for two things (Unlike what happened in the Schiavo case)...

1) The woman's wishes are adhered too without a huge family fight.

2) The government stays the hell out of the way.

The Catechism of the Catholic Church

enter the Table of Contents of the Catechism of the Catholic Church here

Euthanasia

2276 Those whose lives are diminished or weakened deserve special respect. Sick or handicapped persons should be helped to lead lives as normal as possible.

2277 Whatever its motives and means, direct euthanasia consists in putting an end to the lives of handicapped, sick, or dying persons. It is morally unacceptable.

Thus an act or omission which, of itself or by intention, causes death in order to eliminate suffering constitutes a murder gravely contrary to the dignity of the human person and to the respect due to the living God, his Creator. The error of judgment into which one can fall in good faith does not change the nature of this murderous act, which must always be forbidden and excluded.

2278 Discontinuing medical procedures that are burdensome, dangerous, extraordinary, or disproportionate to the expected outcome can be legitimate; it is the refusal of "over-zealous" treatment. Here one does not will to cause death; one's inability to impede it is merely accepted. The decisions should be made by the patient if he is competent and able or, if not, by those legally entitled to act for the patient, whose reasonable will and legitimate interests must always be respected.

2279 Even if death is thought imminent, the ordinary care owed to a sick person cannot be legitimately interrupted. The use of painkillers to alleviate the sufferings of the dying, even at the risk of shortening their days, can be morally in conformity with human dignity if death is not willed as either an end or a means, but only foreseen and tolerated as inevitable Palliative care is a special form of disinterested charity. As such it should be encouraged

In his opinion, nobody should be allowed to determine that “this person is not a living human being, so I decide when I give life or take away life. It’s a sophisticated way of murdering somebody.”

Agreed.

He said it was also significant that, in spite of her condition, the woman was still “able to take water.”

Whoa! If she can "take water" as the Pastor says, and she's obviously taking water somehow or else she'd be dead, then the woman has brain function. Moreover, if she swallows the water when given to her, then killing her is murder, plain and simple.

The big question here is, is she indeed "taking water" as in swallowing it when offered.

I found out more about this case.

I reached the reporter on this story.
Jorge Mederos

He sounded very sincere and wants to see something done.
He visited the home yesterday.

Terri Schiavo’s case in Chicago
http://www.laraza.com/news.php?nid=21715

He said to use his cell phone# 773-617-4712

He also gave me the Pastor's number
Pastor Espinoza 708-423-5096
I just called the pastor. Very nice man. They are planning a service in front of the home on Sunday. He told me it was okay to include his phone number for more information on the service.

The service is at 3pm, Sunday in front of the home at
3939 W. 59th Place
Chicago, IL

Please help spread this story. Perhaps any Chicago Freepers could go to the service.

"We conceptualize life in the context of a perfection, and when perfection is lacking, we feel it is incomplete.”

Most profound!

How many Terri's are out there right now, suffering as she did??????

If she can drink water and swallow it is an indication she can eat by mouth and he's starving/murdering her.

Call the local police and the Department of Social Services.
