The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

We now know more about an alleged attack that triggered an increased national threat level last summer.

That's when U.S. officials said they had uncovered a plot targeting financial institutions. The plot involved bombs, banks and British nationals.

The detail was startling, the targets enormous. They included financial buildings in Washington, New York and New Jersey.

The Pakistani sailor was AWOL. Had he not made that stupid move and attacked the girl, he might still be out there. Who knows what his original intentions were. I work near Times Square and all during this past week there were sailors every where -- mostly our own. It was great to see them having a great time in NYC. I did see some Pakistani sailors wandering around the city. I had to do a double take when I walked past a couple of bearded muslims in their dress white sailor uniforms.

While our children may sometimes feel like a curse for enjoying sex (LOL).......grandchildren are truly one of God's greatest creations and blessings.

I am the very proud "Nana" to seven of them. Of course they are Venus beautiful, Adonis handsome, and Einstein brilliant. Ranging in age from 24 years to three months. They never fail to delight me and they truly do add a whole new demension to loving.

WW2 bombs found in Italy, thousands evacuated

ROME (Reuters) - The discovery of two World War II bombs in southern Italy has forced more than 10,000 people to evacuate their homes, snarled train travel and shut down a vital highway leading to the port city of Naples.

The most dramatic of the two discoveries was in the Italian town of Formia last week, where explosives experts are preparing to detonate on Tuesday a 250-kg (500-pound), 2-meter long device dropped by the British air force more than 60 years ago.

Local authorities believe the device's malfunctioning time-release mechanism was accidentally triggered upon its discovery near the train station, Formia's spokeswoman said.

They ordered more than 10,000 of the city's 36,000 residents to stay away while the army builds a special casing around the bomb to limit fallout, she added.

A second bomb was discovered by road construction workers adding another lane to a busy highway outside the city of Naples, forcing the mayor to temporarily shut down a section of the motorway over the weekend and causing delays.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) - An explosion shook the headquarters of NATO's 8,000-strong security force in the Afghan capital on Monday, but there were no immediate reports of injuries, a spokeswoman for the force said.
The blast occurred "in the vicinity" of the International Security Assistance Force compound, said Lt. Col. Karen Tissot Van Patot. She said officers were investigating the cause of the explosion.

FREETOWN, Sierra Leone - At a time when the United States has thousands of forces hunting Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan and Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in Iraq, international investigators say the United States is ignoring another terrorist outlaw — former Liberian President Charles Taylor, who's hiding in plain sight in West Africa.

This is a place most Americans and their government haven't paid much attention to. It is war-torn, remote and desperately poor. But that might be about to change. War crimes investigators have uncovered evidence that al-Qaida terrorists — before and after 9/11 — were using West Africa as a hideout and as a place to launder money.

And they say Charles Taylor has been helping them. Taylor, who is allegedly responsible for the murder, rape and mutilation of 1.2 million people, was indicted more than two years ago for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The charges forced him from power in Liberia.

"Today, I leave you with these parting words, God willing, I will be back," Taylor told Liberian supporters in 2003.
