The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Threat Matrix - Daily Terrorism Threat
Details show extent of terror plot against U.S.
Full Story

We now know more about an alleged attack that triggered an increased national threat level last summer.

That's when U.S. officials said they had uncovered a plot targeting financial institutions. The plot involved bombs, banks and British nationals.

The detail was startling, the targets enormous. They included financial buildings in Washington, New York and New Jersey.

Domestic Terrorist Threats Declining, Officials Say

I can agree with most of the stuff here. However, I think we still have a long way to go in stitching up security gaps here in the country.

I'm gonna water and weed this afternoon.

Yikes, that is exactly what I did this afternoon. I swear some of those nasty roots go all the way to you know where!

And the number of federal deportation officers? One.

This is the type of thing that makes our Homeland Security efforts almost a joke. No possible way one man can go after the 3,000 fugitives, let alone the 300,000 illegals in North Carolina. It's akin to putting up a "Welcome" sign.

"Sheik digs himself into a deeper hole"
Sydney Morning Herald ^ | May 1, 2005 | Miranda Devine

Posted on 04/30/2005 1:58:05 PM PDT by NCjim

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Liverpool's Sheik Faiz Mohamad did himself no favours trying to justify his comments that women who were raped only had themselves to blame because they dressed immodestly.

His comments at a lecture to more than 1000 people last month at Bankstown Town Hall caused a storm of anger after they were revealed in The Sun-Herald last Sunday.

"A victim of rape every minute somewhere in the world. Why? No one to blame but herself," he said. "She displayed her beauty to the entire world. She degraded herself by being an object of sexual desire."

During the week, Sydney-born Faiz, 34, attempted to justify himself in an interview on Channel Nine, but only dug a deeper hole.

"What I meant is a lady, if she wears any kind of alluring clothes or adorning [sic] clothes or clothes that beautify her beauty, she is eligible for rape." Eligible for rape?

Later, on Channel Ten, he tried again. "Maybe I should have said it another way, meaning they are attracting to themselves and are partly to blame but not fully to blame."

He still doesn't get it, despite the fact that NSW Premier Bob Carr, Federal Treasurer Peter Costello and numerous Muslim organisations have condemned him.

But it is not the first time the popular sheik, who lectures twice a week at Liverpool's Global Islamic Youth Centre, has made extreme statements."

To lurkers: The opinion expressed is NOT an endorsement to tampering or filling airbags with anything. It is an opinion-speculation expressed regarding WHAT MIGHT TERRORISTS DO with airbags.

Good point Cindy. I've read recently that some auto repair shops are replacing airbags with other materials and pocketing the insurance money. Anyone with a "replaced" airbag with work completed at a shop with which you are not totally familiar should verify it is, in fact, installed.

Anyone not understanding that terrorists are in our country and delight in finding creative opportunities to harm us, needs to enlighten themselves by following this thread and the many excellent internet resources documenting what the mainstream news doesn't report.

Zarqawi aide calls for attacks on Vatican, White House

DUBAI — The deputy to Al Qaeda’s frontman in Iraq, Abu Musab Al Zarqawi, has asked for orders to attack the White House and the Vatican, according to an audiotape posted on the Internet yesterday.

“To our emir (leader) Abu Musab Al Zarqawi ... we say: We are ready for your orders. We are determined to fight the infidels,” said Sheikh Abdulrahman Al Iraqi in the tape, whose authenticity could not be verified.

“If you point at the White House or the Vatican, we would make every effort so that you reach your target,” he added, in the online statement broadcast a day after a call by Zarqawi to his followers to intensify their fight against the Americans in Iraq.

This is the first time that Al Qaeda, the terror group led by Osama bin Laden, mentions the Vatican as a possible target.

"France holds 'jihad recruiters'"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "One of them - 39-year-old Said al-Maghrebi - had been sought by police for months. He was detained in Montreuil, a Paris suburb.

The other suspect was arrested in Marseilles, while three others detained in the operation were later released.

Mr Maghrebi is reported to have trained with al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.

In January, 11 suspected Islamic militants were arrested in France, including Farid Benyettou, who police believe is a senior figure behind recruiting fighters for jihad - or holy war - in Iraq."
