Hill: It's Madame Prez time
New York Daily News ^ | April 12, 2005 | Rush & Molloy

Sen. Hillary Clinton has been in politics long enough enough to know that polls can be misleading.

So she told us yesterday that, despite a recent survey that indicated only 68% of men would be willing to vote for a female president, she thinks the time is right.

"It depends on the woman," she said at the New York Women in Communications Matrix Awards luncheon yesterday at the Waldorf-Astoria. Indeed, the New York legislator may very well be that woman on the 2008 Democratic ticket.

Cristiane Amanpour agreed.

"I feel Americans will be ready to empower a woman."

And CBS' Lesley Stahl added, "It's always distressed me that in macho places in Europe and Asia the parliamentary system can produce women prime ministers but somehow our system can't manage that."

Oprah Winfrey exclaimed: "That's about how women see other women. Do we see ourselves as capable and strong? I'm going to have to change this!"

And you know that she will.

I tend to agree. Hillary couldn't be THAT bad of a President.

Would she be corrupt? Of course, what politician isn't?

Would she lie? Of course, what politician doesn't?

At least there would still be a Republican majority in both House and Senate and she would not be able to get much done.

One major potential bad thing about a President Hillary would be that she could potentially nominate Supreme Court justices and other Federal Judges.

Woman, schwoman, who cares? What's important is someone who is willing to defend freedom and has common sense and a realistic and pragmatic view of the world the way it really is and is not a loony leftist and faux utopian delusionist.

That said, I'd vote for Condi or Jean Kirkpatrick tomorrow.

Of course we do. That's why we need to consider a woman who has gotten to where she is through her own accomplishments and not by riding her husband's coattails and a manufactured wave of public sympathy as the scorned woman.

At least with a RINO we would still have control of the military.Living in West Tennessee ( an annex of Arkansas) we have followed the Clinton politics for way over 20 years. You had better be VERY AFRAID if this Marxist should be come the CIC.

"The Christian Right hates her because they seek to subjugate women."

Her Heinous herself could not have said it better.

Yep, reading more closely I also note the implied Hillary lie, not P9's own opinion.....

Whew.

Point agreed: Hillary will continue to LIE every time her lips move around potential swing voters and Useless Idiots....

Hillary could not keep her husband in line... how on earth would she govern a country?

SO TRUE.

Then I'll rephrase it: Either they wouldn't give her an inch of slack under the conditions I described, or there truly isn't a dime's worth of difference between Democrats and Republicans. Either way, she wouldn't be any worse than a RINO like Romney.

presidio9 says: "The Christian Right hates her because they seek to subjugate women"
What??!! Where are you getting this idea? I am definitely in the "Christian Right" (as defined by the Left), but I do not see that "subjugation" of women that you claim exists. Are there some men in the "Christian Right" who subjugate women? Yes, I am sure that there are some. Are there men in the Left, the Right, the "libertarian" groups who also subjugate women? Yes - most definitely.

If the "Christian Right" opposes (not 'hates') Hillary, it is not because she is a woman. If you look at most conservative churches you will find that the majority of leadership positions within their individual churches and denominational work (outside of the Priesthood) in both Catholic and Evangelical groups are filled by women. I'm sure that there are individual churches where this is not true, but in my 25 year experiences within the Baptist tradition I have found this to be the case in the vast majority of most Baptist churches. Please, presidio9, do not stereo-type conservative Christians. You don't know what you are talking about.

With the Bush administration? How is that?

Hillary couldn't be THAT bad.

Yes, of course I shudder at the thought of her becoming President.

"It depends on the woman," she said...

What arrogance. I wonder if there really are enough stupid people in this country to elect such a pompous ass.

That is probably a fairly powerful arguement to the average voter that could be an effective ad.

I just posted an article from the Hill saying Newt was thinking of Running. Here is my reaction to that! WE NEED SOMEONE BETTER!

I like Newt, but he's more polarizing than she is!!! That would be political suicide for the GOP!!

Macho places like Europe?? Macho places like Europe? C'mon, Europe is the home of guys who squat to pee...how is that macho Leslie? And while you're thinking about that Leslie, put my laundry in the machine and bring me a beer.

It's not that the country is ready for a woman president or not; it's that no woman is qualified to be president. Women for the most part are emotional, illogical, immune to reason, and prone to bouts of flightiness. Although we look great in the short-skirt suits, we make crappy leaders.

I give you Exhibit A: Carly Fiorina.

As far as Hillary, I can't stand her because she's a vile hypocrite. She slept her way to power, and a less feminist avenue cannot be found.

I don't think there's any question that any position Hillary assumes is false (unless she gets on the news tomorrow and announces that she's a Stalinist.)
