John Kerry Outs Undercover Intelligence Agent in Bolton Hearing
C-Span

Posted on 04/11/2005 12:34:14 PM PDT by The Old Hoosier

I don't know if anyone else is watching this, but the Senate hearing on John Bolton has repeatedly referred to a "Mr. Smith" whom Bolton said had behaved unprofessionally.

Well, Sen. John Kerry just gave "Mr. Smith's" name in the open hearing.

Once a jackass, always a jackass.

Before writing or calling anybody we should make sure we have ALL the facts straight.

Why go to all that trouble? Just contact Dan Rather.
Or Matt Drudge.
Or the New York Times.
Or...CNNABCCBSNBC.

And of course Kerry is immune to any prosecution under Article I, Sec. 6, of the Constitution:

"...and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they [Senators and Representatives] shall not be questioned in any other Place."

I don't think that applies to committee hearings, just floor debate.

What I wrote stands.

Maybe you need more facts to conclude that Kerry mentioned "Mr. Smith's" real name, but I heard it with my own ears. Fulton Armstrong is "Mr Smith."

I think you guys are taking this all out of context. There is the subtle nuance that Armstrong is a fairly common name, much like Smith is. So, in fact, Kerry knew before he said “Armstrong” that he was actually referring to Smith, before someone could say that he would be against not using the name Smith, instead of being for using the name Armstrong.

Similarly, the use of the name Fulton, having already been used in previous sessions in the context of steamboats, had no direct relevance when preceding the name Armstrong, unless of course, it was related to a fish market where someone named Smith could have conceivably been named before Armstrong was.

Anyway, I would wait Kerry to explain what he meant, but I don’t think that will be too soon. He has been under a heavy workload since Jan 30, 2005 trying to sign Form 180 like he said he would.

Seems likely that they were using "Mr. Smith" at Bolton or Armstrong's request -- to avoid embarrsment. He obviously isn't an "undercover agent".

It also seems likely that it will take a while before your link will get further notice heh.
