One Man's Convictions Launched a Border Crusade
LA TImes ^ | 4/11/2005 | Jennifer Delson

Last fall, Vietnam veteran James Gilchrist, 56, was listening to George Putnam's talk show on KCAA-AM (1050). He often listens to conservative radio shows in his small home office in an Aliso Viejo planned community, where he proudly displays his Purple Heart and dog tags.He heard a guest on the show, Chris Simcox, complain about lax border enforcement. His words resonated with Gilchrist, who long wondered why communities in Orange County teemed with people who don't speak English.

Gilchrist called Simcox, a veteran crusader against illegal immigrants at the Arizona border.

The link below is one of the best first hand accounts I have read for giving a flavor of what the Minuteman Project is really about.

'Minutewomen' Report from U.S. Mexican Border

After reading this and seeing how effective a relatively small number of people stationed in outposts within seeing distance of each other, sitting in lounge chairs and under umbrellas, playing music, flying kites and just being there can be.

Then you have to wonder, why the heck our government will not solve this problem.

BUMP

Since the governmen refuses to enforce our laws and protect our boder, we are left with little choice. Many of these illegal aliens are dangerous, all of them are criminals.

We have large number of troops protecting the South Korean border, but not our own.

If not a FReeper herself, then a FReeper posted that over the weekend.

I'm absolutely thrilled that her story is getting exposure in other forums.

Maybe the sheeple will wake up...all we can do is keep working to get the story out.

Bump to your tagline!

"In the beginning of a change, the patriot is a scarce man brave, hated, and scorned. When his cause succeeds, however, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot." ~Mark Twain

But his thoughts inevitably flow to Vietnam. "What … did all these people die for in World War II, Korea and Vietnam?" he asked. "It was not so we would turn into a country of mayhem."

And, I would add, ... Iraq and Afghanistan. You da man, Jim!
