How would You Feel without FR??? Suppose one day you tried to log on and Free Republic wasn’t there? Where would you get your up to the minute news? How about the live threads as things are happening?
How would you know about the latest Demorat scams, anti-second amendment schemes and all the other liberal, anti-American ploys that are tried every single day?
Insight into world affairs, brilliant wit, sharp retorts, instant information gratification are a few of the things that make FR so vital.
How would you keep on top of things without FR?

It's the only time I ever peek over there. The comments are so meanspirited that they really make me giggle.

In order to score a Fair Funkle on Free Republic, a FReeper must observe the following rules: 1) The thread chosen must have been active within 1/2 hour prior to declaring an attempt. 2) The FReeper must delare a "Fair Funkle" attempt in his/her first post. 3) The FReeper must post count downs from 4 to 1 (the declaration post counts as the first post) at no less than 5 minute intervals. 4) It is the duty of any freeper seeing the declaration to post a "bump", thus ending the attempt. 5) The successful FReeper may, at the fifth and last post, declare in any derisive terms desired, "I did it! A Fair Funkle!" 6) Scoring of Fair Funkles will be by a jury of FReeper peers (the Funkle Committee), and will include: time intervals between count down posts, total time consumed and thread popularity prior to the Fair Funkle. 7) Scoring disputes will be decided by the Funkle Committee and may not be appealed. 8) The awarding of the annual Fairest Funkle Of Them All trophy will be decided by the Funkle Committee. |
I know, "NOT AGAIN"! I suppose my bottom line is why are monthlies not a part of the state rankings. It appears to me that when one becomes a monthly contributor you are in effect screwing your state rankings by leaving the state ranking up to those who are not monthly contributors. After all isn't the goal to have monthly contibutors, who are the most reliable of all contributors. So why the apparent penalty when one becomes a monthly donor, or get rid of state rankings as a sign of donation success. The two appear to be counter productive.
It's sad, really, but their hostility prevents us from pitying them.
I don't make the rules.
That's the way it is, always has been since Freepathons began and probably always will be.

The FReepathon Scoreboard reflects donor activity for the entire quarter. The "Receipts" column reflects only those donations that have been received and processed. The credit card donations are processed immediately, and so they appear as soon as they're processed. Mail-in donations aren't recorded in the "Receipts" column until the checks and money orders are received and processed.
The monthly donations are processed as they are received. For example, my monthly donation (via credit card) is set up to be processed automatically on the 10th of every month. Well, since it's not the 10th yet, my April monthly donation hasn't appeard in the "Receipts" column and does't appear as a donation for this FReepathon yet. And likewise, for this quarter, my May and June monthlies haven't been processed yet so they won't show up in the "Receipts" column until the 10th of May and June. And monthly donations for Q3 and Q4 2005 won't be received until later in the year.
The FReepathon goal ($66000 this quarter) is for the entire quarter and the monthly donations (currently $11,629.64) are multilied by 3 for the quarter. The donations will continue to come in throughout the quarter.
Check the score board near the end of this quarter (June 29 or 30) and you'll see that by that time, all the monthlies for this quarter have been recorded and the "Receipts" column will reflect that.
