I was about to write a parody news story about a bill to ban knives, I didn't have to. Virgil Smith and Mike Murphy actually did the real thing. Both are Democrats.

The bold part in caps and areas crossed out are the proposed changes to the law. The rest of the text is already law.

This bill isn't going anywhere, but it just shows the absurdity of some bills. I'd laugh if it wasn't in my own state.

Their constituents prefer AK47s. I guess this bill just helps make their jobs safer.

These items can be purchased in many places. Mastering the throwing technique is a major time commitment. California has a fairly large Chinese population. They outlawed almost every traditional Chinese edged weapon in the same set of laws that governs firearms.

I always loved the scene from Under Siege, when Steven Segal throws the knife at Gary Busey's henchmen.

My old Boy Scout knife.

Mine was similar to this Cub Scout Knife. Note the dangerous locking blades.
