Yahoo, White House

Posted on 04/08/2005 2:01:14 PM PDT by MJY1288

President Bush and the First Lady attended the "majestic" funeral for Pope John Paul II today in Rome. The President and the First Lady, as well as, Poppy Bush are heading for the Ranch as I'm typing this. The President spoke to the Press Pool on the way back from Rome.. It is a must read, I will post a link to the interview

It was interesting. I, like you, read some things between the lines of that press conference. I wished that I knew the names of the journalists asking the questions, I would have been quite curious. I know that Bill Sammons (no doubt W's favorite journalist) was among them, but don't know any others.

Yes, I know others were wearing sunglasses (I can't believe I'm talking about this...). I don't think there's anything inappropriate about wearing sunglasses when you're sitting in the sun and wind for three hours.

But, a smaller, less dramatic frame would have been, IMHO, a better choice for the occasion.

(Still friends??)

Didn't someone mention a couple of nights ago that Laura's eyes were swollen and she might been crying....At the time I thought...They look like mine....It's allergy time!

Out with the contacts (it may have been the reason she holding on to "W"...Can't tell where she's going and is afraid she'll fall and make a spectacle of herself)
..... and on with the colored glasses. My eyes water....Nothing seems to help for two miserable weeks...Sunlight is very painful. SPend alot of time inside........Then it just stops as quickly as it starts.

I have always wanted a secret garden, and when, as an adult, I discovered this (in movie form), I watched four versions of it. Even tho' it strays a bit from the book, I finally bought the Gennie James, Derek Jacobi, Billie Whitelaw, Colin Firth version (1987).

Mother taught me all the trees, birds, wildflower, butterflies names at a very young age....Can't remember not knowing them. GSP was one of her role models.

Personally it does not bother me either way I used to wear contacts and I would have needed sunglasses in that bright sun. Also somepoeple need large lens ones because they have a lot of peripheral vision and smaller ones are not effective because the light is still visable.

Watching the replay on EWTN, Father Neuhaus pointed out that this is the largest funeral EVER, for ANYONE. Wonderful. All well behaved.
