President Bush and the First Lady attended the "majestic" funeral for Pope John Paul II today in Rome. The President and the First Lady, as well as, Poppy Bush are heading for the Ranch as I'm typing this. The President spoke to the Press Pool on the way back from Rome.. It is a must read, I will post a link to the interview
Maybe the last one should be named Harry (Reid) and they should be forced to grow up together, One Tribe under Duck Cheney. Maybe then Harry'd learn to get along with his seatmates.
:0)
Thanks, snugs, for the pictures. They all look well-rested after their whirlwind trip, don't they? I hope they have a relaxing weekend.
Thank God for answered prayers for a safe trip!
Charlotte's Web is a great choice, by E.B. White. By the same author, Stuart Little and The Trumpet of the Swan.
James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl. Matilda by the same author.
For classics, The Wind in the Willows.
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L'Engle (may be slightly too old for now.)
A Cricket in Times Square has sequels. One is Chester Cricket Comes Home.
Julie of the Wolves and Julie's Wolf Pack by Jean Craighead George.
FRmail coming to you.
Incense is an interesting theory. Vapors and strong aromas do bother my eyes when I'm wearing contacts.
But as some have mentioned, maybe she had been weeping or thought she might weep and didn't want to draw attention to it.
I respect your right to this opinion but I do wonder where that is written as a rule of etiquette.
I've always believed that a person's physical or emotional needs should be factored in, even in the highest diplomatic situations and duties, even when such an edict can be cited.
George and Laura work very hard to deny themselves their own comfort for the sake of others and their country on a constant basis. I'm sure I have no idea the extent of what they deny themselves in this regard. Their privacy and freedom from public raking are two of them.
I am sure she had her reasons for wearing the glasses. I am just so proud of them for being the first presidential couple to attend a papal funeral, for Bush's strong support of Pope John Paul II in his lifetime, and his commitment to keep working with the Vatican.
Guess I'm not going to be skipping the Dose ever, ever, ever again! LOL! I hope I can restore my sterling reputation as an innocent, intelligent, quick-witted, and cute poster.
:-)
I'm also partial to the Hoosier author that wrote "Freckles" and "Girl of the Limberlost"...name slips me at the present.
Gene Stratton Porter. 'The Girl of the Limberlost' is still one of my all-time favorite classic older childrens books.
I forgot one of the all-time best childrens' books: The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett. You could both enjoy reading that together. I recommend a good illustrated copy with pictures. It is a timeless and wonderful story.
They're calling you all sorts of names on here, homemom! LOL!
That's what you get for moving. Good to see you on the Dose.
I think the "issue" with Laura's sunglasses has more to do with their size than the fact that she was wearing them.
Perhaps a smaller, less glamorous pair would have served her better at the funeral.
I keep thinking I cannot remember any good books and then someone else names a book and I think that was one of my favourites.
I have one The Donkey Rustlers by Gerald Durrell which is a story based in Corfu
Thanks for the ping!
You have MAIL! :o)
I'm doing well, snugs, thanks very much. Trying to keep up on the Dose tonight! And sleepy because I got up at 3 am to watch the Pope's funeral ceremony.
Sorry it's not going like you hoped . . . God probably has something even better in store for you. :-)
Well, I figured the fiction that people were making up ghastly quotes about you in your absence was better than the fiction that nobody cared or remembered to ask how you are!
Besides, you know I have an active imagination.
I went to bed at 3.00am but I had a knap late afternoon so I am not too bad this evening.
